Buying a substantial number of clothes is becoming a norm in many areas of the world. People consider purchasing a lot of clothes a status symbol, and those working in ceratin sectors consider it essential to wear new clothes for every day so that they can impress their customers by merely their looks. People can be persuaded to buy lesser number of apparels by awareness campaigns run by the goernments to demonstrate how badly clothing industry is affecting the environment.
Affluent people try to maintain their status in the society by wearing luxury clothing, and they tend to focus on having a plenty of dresses in their closets, so that the do not have to rewear any piece again, as by doing so, they can gain respect and value from society. Moreover, people working in ceratin fields, for example, showbiz industries, are always keen to buy newer clothes, as they want to look pleasent on every photograph which can reach to their fans. Hence, people spend lacs on shopping clothes, although they sometimes never wear again.
This issue can be dealt by the governments by raising awareness among public to reduce the number of clothes they buy. Clothing industries are posing a threat to a vital ecosystem, and are becoming a source of carbon emissions and deforestation. The government should underscore the significance of reusing clothes to save the environment and reserve natural habitats. For instance, in the United Kingdom, in a recent survey in 2023, thirty percent of forests were cut to construct clothing factories in the last ten years.
In conclusion, although buying and wearing new clothes is not a bad thing, consideration is important in every aspect. Individuals belonging to upper class in societies and those belongning to certain sectors are burdening the environement every day by buying new clothes in a huge quantity. The governments should focus on guiding people to buy clothes only for there use so that their harmful effects to environment can be reduced.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt directly, discussing reasons for excessive clothing purchases—such as status symbols and professional pressures in sectors like the showbiz industry—and suggesting solutions involving government awareness campaigns. The ideas are adequately supported with explanations and a specific example concerning the UK. However, the development tends to generalise slightly, and the discussion of solutions could have been explored in greater depth to achieve a higher band. Nevertheless, the main parts of the task are well covered, and a clear position is maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a logical overall progression, moving clearly from an introduction to reasons, solutions, and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is utilised appropriately to separate main ideas, such as grouping the causes in the second paragraph and the government solutions in the third. Cohesive devices like "Moreover," "Hence," and "This issue can be dealt by" are employed to link sentences and paragraphs, though some referencing is slightly mechanical. Overall organisation is coherent and guides the reader smoothly through the argument without significant disruptions.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate and generally appropriate vocabulary range for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "status symbol," "affluent," "ecosystem," and "deforestation." However, there are notable spelling errors and minor collocation issues throughout the text, including "ceratin" instead of certain, "pleasent" instead of pleasant, and "spend lacs" which relies on regional terminology. Additionally, the phrase "for there use" contains a homophone error. While these inaccuracies are noticeable, they do not severely impede communication, resulting in a solid mid-level lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as "Affluent people try to maintain their status in the society by wearing luxury clothing, and they tend to focus on having a plenty of dresses..." There are, however, several grammatical errors present, including preposition choices and article usage (e.g., "the clothing industry," "for every day," and "dealt by the governments"). Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while errors do occur, they rarely impede overall comprehension, allowing the writer to secure a stable score in this criterion.
