Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporory era, individuls are buying considerable number of outfits in some parts of the globe. This trend is mainly driven by the fast-fashion brand advertistments and social media influences. However, this essay will discuss distinct measures to divert the mind of people from purchasing a large number of garments.

To begin with, the reach of social media is significantly depends on fashionable appearance, infulencers introducing new styles everyday which puts pressure on citizens to buy these outfits to match their standarads with the society. Consequently, people buying more and more outfits in a disposable way. Similarly, the garments industry generating new styles on a mass scale to boost their sales, they are using a unique advertistment technique to allure more customers, for example, the companies are promoting clothes on a low price range but they are hiding the low quality material and production. Hence, people are not able to use these outfits for a long time and the loop is still continue to buying new clothes.

However, this issue can be resolve by promoting the awareness about the environmental harms of mass production. In other words, people should aware about how much raw materials such as water, fiberic, and animals leather, they are using to produce new outfits. Moreover, buying high quality garments can also help to encourage people to buy limited number of outfits, because these types of materials last-longer than the normal ones and left less chances to buy new outfit. Therefore, the combination of environmental awareness and individuals mind-set can be beneficial to reduce this trend.

In conclusion, the main culprits behind the mass production of clothes are unique advertistments of fashing brands and the high influence of social media. Nevertheless, with the aid of awareness campigans and changing the people's mind towards high quality outfits, it can helps to minimize this trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying too many clothes (fast-fashion advertising and social media influence) and solutions to reduce this trend (environmental awareness and buying high-quality garments). A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are generally extended and supported, though the explanations tend to over-generalise slightly, such as claiming that companies deliberately hide low-quality materials to trap consumers in a continuous buying loop. Despite minor areas where development could be deeper, all requirements of the task are met satisfactorily.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing causes and solutions respectively, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'To begin with', 'However', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in the phrasing 'the loop is still continue to buying new clothes' and awkward transitions between sentences. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but overall the progression could be smoother to reach a higher band.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'disposable way', 'mass production', and 'awareness campaigns'. However, there are numerous noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including 'contemporory' instead of contemporary, 'individuls' instead of individuals, 'advertistments' instead of advertisements, 'infulencers' instead of influencers, 'standarads' instead of standards, and 'fiberic' instead of fabric. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability with subordinate clauses ('which puts pressure on citizens'). However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, such as 'the reach of social media is significantly depends on', 'people buying more and more', 'this issue can be resolve', and 'people should aware about'. Run-on sentences and comma splices also occur, such as in the second sentence of the second paragraph. These errors indicate a lack of reliable control over complex structures.
