| Criterion | Band |
|---|---|

| Overall | 5.5 |
Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the task, identifying reasons for excessive clothing purchases such as status symbol and fashion trends, and suggesting solutions like responsible media representation and school education. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the explanation regarding status focuses heavily on the same concept without exploring deeper psychological or economic drivers. The position is clear, but the support lacks depth and extension, which places this response comfortably at Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The text features a clear overall arrangement with distinct paragraphs separating the introduction, reasons, solutions, and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the text, although some referencing is faulty or mechanical, such as 'that they start repeating cloth' and pronoun agreement issues. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, but the logical progression between sentences within paragraphs can occasionally feel abrupt.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items such as 'unnecessary purchasing', 'status to the society', and 'clothing trend'. However, there are frequent word-choice errors and inaccurate collocations, such as 'Buy new clothes on every occations' instead of 'occasions', 'start believe' instead of 'start believing', and spelling mistakes like 'televation' and 'educcation'. While communication is not impeded, these frequent lexical inaccuracies prevent the score from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and relative clauses ('people start believe that they can show...', 'if televation actors start using...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Girls and boys wants', 'generation to spend'), incorrect verb tenses ('they saw in movies', 'they are follow'), and missing articles. Punctuation errors are also present, such as sentence fragments ('Which is definitely the reason...'). These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.
