Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the reasons why people buy too many clothes and suggesting ways to reduce consumption. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat superficial. For instance, the discussion on the work culture in the USA is brief and lacks clear connection to the global trend of over-purchasing. Similarly, the solution section mentions wastage of money and teaching people to buy affordable or used clothes, but these points are underdeveloped. The writer does take a position and covers all prompt requirements, but the extension and support of ideas align best with Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some basic organization, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but lacks clear overall progression and logical paragraphing. The introduction contains multiple typos and awkwardly constructed transition sentences. Cohesive devices are used mechanically or are sometimes inaccurate, such as 'Firstly, lets talk about' and 'On the other hand work culture is also one the main reapn'. Paragraphing is poorly handled, with some paragraphs appearing disjointed or abruptly ending. Referencing is occasionally unclear, which disrupts the flow of reading. These features reflect the Band 5 descriptor criteria.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively limited and repetitive, with frequent spelling mistakes ('inddividual', 'ocassions', 'specailly', 'reapn', 'pircjasing', 'as weel') and word choice errors ('to much clothes', 'on their daily bases'). While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'aesthetic' and 'excessive', inaccuracies in collocation and form impede clarity at times. The range is minimally adequate to convey basic ideas, fitting the Band 5 description.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but many attempts at complex sentences are faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay, including missing articles ('is also one the main reapn'), subject-verb agreement issues ('there is a various part'), and incorrect preposition usage ('buy it show their class'). Punctuation is also erratic. These persistent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and align the grammar performance with Band 5.0.
