Student answer (Band 5.0)
It was argured that people in some part of the world buy too many clothes. I will be discussing both the merits and demerits of purchasing too many cloth. Clothing is one of the important essentials people need in their daily lives.
Some people buy too many clothes for different reasons. Buying too many clothes can safe them during the time of emergency because they do not need to be looking for clothes incase of an impromptu events. Also they can easily plan events without thinking about what to wear. For instance, when some influencials or celebrities have an events to go, when there is cloth to wear it will not be difficult for them to plan outfits. In addition, buying to many clothes will helps to safe money and help them to keep to their monthly or daily budgets without spending extra on outfits. Therefore purchasing too many clothes is useful and save people at the time of emergencies.
Furthermore, buying too many outfits can decrease the values of cloth because when they buy too many cloths especially when the cloth is popular, it will get to some point that it will be outdated and they will end up giving it out they trash it. However, people can be persuaded to reduced the the number of clothes they buy by making a reasonable budgets so as to ensure they reduce the number of clothes they buy. They can also be reminded about the financial implications that is attached, this will lower the rate at which clothing is being purchased. For example, when someone want to purchase a cloth, they can be reminded how expensive the cloth is so that they will be discouraged to buy it.
In conclusion, buying far too many clothes can be beneficial, however it should be reduce due to the effect of financial implications attached.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt regarding the reasons why people buy too many clothes and how they can be persuaded to reduce this behavior. However, there is a fundamental misunderstanding of the prompt in the introduction, where the student states, "I will be discussing both the merits and demerits of purchasing too many cloth," which misinterprets the task requirements of reasons and solutions. Despite this misstatement, the body paragraphs do successfully discuss reasons (such as emergencies and planning events) and solutions (such as budgeting and reminders). Ideas are presented, but some are repetitive or under-developed, particularly regarding the consequences. The position is somewhat blurred by the introductory misdirection, leading to a Band 5.5 score under the task achievement descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response is arranged into four paragraphs, providing a basic structure. However, logical progression is occasionally hindered by abrupt transitions and repetitive sentence structures. Cohesive devices such as "Also", "In addition", and "Furthermore" are used to connect ideas, but their application can be mechanical or overused. Paragraphing is attempted, with the second paragraph attempting to group reasons and the third grouping solutions, but the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use referring back to plural and singular nouns inconsistently. Overall, the organization shows some logical progression but falls short of the consistent logical flow required for a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication, but it is repetitive and contains noticeable errors in word choice and spelling. Examples of lexical errors include "argured" instead of argued, "cloth" instead of clothes, and "safe" instead of save. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as "impromptu events" and "financial implications," but these are offset by frequent slips and inaccuracies. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying heavily on basic terms repeated throughout the text. These errors do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures are frequently marred by grammatical errors. Examples include "when some influencials or celebrities have an events to go, when there is cloth to wear it will not be difficult..." which exhibits clumsy clause structuring and agreement errors. There are frequent errors in verb forms, plurals, and prepositions, such as "buying to many clothes will helps to safe money" and "when someone want to purchase a cloth." While communication is rarely completely obscured, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies places the performance firmly at Band 5.0.
