Indubitably, the rapid pace of changing trends has reshaped how people live. In few countries people tend to over purchase clothes, even more than they need in thier daily lives. The myriad reasons for the underlying situation and effective measures to control it will be discussed in upcoming paragraphs.

A major contributing factor is people getting influenced from social media or people around them. To elaborate, these days people follow certain social media personalities who keep on posting while wearing expensive brands, hence people watching them tries to follow by buying same clothes in cheaper rates at local markets to stay in the trend and up-to-date. Another striking reason is convenient access to online clothing websites. To explain, late night scrolling is very common nowadays, people scroll over different clothing brands while ending up with buying clothes that attracts them in just one click. Consequently, individuals in sake of being stylish gets influenced from others and easy access to clothes leaves them purchasing clothes over and over.

Nevertheless, the various inherited solutions for this can be that authorities should impose higher taxes on clothes in order to restrict people from unecessary buying. This will lead to people thinking before spending on high tax clothes, eventually leading to control over purchase. Apart from this, social media influencers should take a step not to promote over spending on clothes so that people can learn from them and avoid buying too many clothes. For example, influencers who show off buying luxury brands in their videos should not promote and brainwash people to copy them. Therefore, they should eduvate people how buying too many clothes leads to wastage and rather they should spend on something valuable in long term.

To conclude, individuals are being influenced from others and social media algorithm brainwash their choices and they end up in buying everything they see on certain websites. However, taking measures such as imposing higher taxes on clothes and influencers taking stand to prevent people to buy unnecessarily could ease this situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt by identifying reasons for over-purchasing clothes, such as social media influence and online shopping accessibility, and suggesting solutions like higher taxation and influencer accountability. The position is clear throughout the essay. However, some ideas could be extended further with more robust examples. For instance, the explanation of social media influence repeats similar concepts rather than developing distinct points. Nevertheless, all parts of the prompt are covered sufficiently, earning a solid Band 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay is structured into a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing reasons and solutions respectively, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised appropriately. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'To elaborate', 'Another striking reason', and 'Nevertheless', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive in their phrasing. Referencing is generally clear, and the overall progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow. This aligns well with the Band 6.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'underlying situation', 'influencers', and 'unnecessary buying'. However, there are notable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'thier' instead of 'their', 'at local markets' instead of 'in local markets', 'in sake of' instead of 'for the sake of', and 'eduvate' instead of 'educate'. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure. Examples include relative clauses and participial phrases like 'people watching them tries to follow'. However, grammatical inaccuracies are frequent, including subject-verb agreement issues ('people... tries', 'individuals... gets'), preposition errors, and awkward phrasing ('take a step not to promote'). While these errors rarely impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band, making Band 6.0 the most accurate reflection of current control.
