Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both the reasons behind excessive clothing purchases and offering solutions, which places it above the lower bands. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the essay identifies the influence of the fashion industry and social media influencers, these points are somewhat limited and under-developed, relying on brief, specific examples like 'Ms Ambani' rather than a broader exploration of consumer behavior. The position is generally clear, but the overall treatment of the prompt leans toward generalization rather than deep analysis, showing characteristics of partial task coverage where some elements require further extension.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the essay into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing reasons and solutions, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is present, but progression throughout the response is sometimes disrupted by abrupt transitions and faulty mechanical cohesion, such as starting sentences with dangling modifiers or disjointed transitional phrases like 'Fashion Industry such as actors...'. Referencing is not always clear, and the logical flow between sentences occasionally falters, resulting in a somewhat choppy reading experience that prevents the progression from feeling entirely smooth and natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The writer employs an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'contemporary', 'proliferation', and 'sustainable resources'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form, including phrases like 'following trend is becoming an habit', 'wastages of resources', and 'repetition of her clothes by making its new normal'. Despite these lexical errors and occasional awkward phrasing, the vocabulary remains minimally adequate and communication is not severely impeded, reflecting a solid middle-level command of words and expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple forms alongside a mix of faulty complex attempts. Frequent errors in grammar and punctuation can cause difficulty for the reader, such as fragment sentences ('Fashion Industry such as actors, designers, makeup artists. They play a crucial role...'), incorrect subject-verb agreement ('colleges plays'), missing or unnecessary articles ('to this, In last Biba Fashion show', 'she wear'), and awkward punctuation. These persistent errors across basic and complex structures mean that error-free sentences are infrequent, restricting the grammatical score to the lower range.
