Nowadays, many people buy too many clothes and they spend lot's of money on the outfits.

Although there are several reasons behind this trend. Firstly, the fashion indsutry is developed so much from last few years and it offers wide range of varity for the clothing. As a result, people have multiple options to purchase. Secondly, social media also plays a significant role behind this trend. For instance, young people often buy multiple clothes because they want to look as same as their favorite social media influencer. Moreover, they want to look very sharp and elegent in their social media posts. Lastly, some people buy several outfits because they are rich and they like to spend money on clothing and lifestyle.

However, there are multiple solutions to deal with this trend. People should be encouraged to buy necessary clothes only so that they can use their savings to other aspects of their life such as family and health. Nevertheless, clothinng brands should manufacture reliable and high quality outfits so that it can be last longer. Similerly, individuals should buy less cloths with higher quality in stead if multiple cloths with low quality.

Overall6.0

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the reasons for buying excessive clothes and potential solutions. However, it falls short of the word count requirement, coming in at 214 words against the minimum of 250 words. Because of this length deficit, the ideas presented remain somewhat limited and under-developed. While reasons such as the fashion industry, social media influencers, and personal wealth are introduced, they lack thorough extension and supporting examples. Similarly, solutions like buying only necessary clothes and improving manufacturing quality are briefly mentioned without deep elaboration. To move to a higher band, the writer must expand on their arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure the response meets the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the essay into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing reasons and solutions, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate ideas logically. However, cohesion relies heavily on mechanical transitions such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', and 'Lastly', which can feel repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother to avoid abrupt shifts between points. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to use a wider and more flexible variety of cohesive devices without over-relying on formulaic list-like transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'influencer', 'lifestyle', and 'reliable'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, including spelling mistakes like 'indsutry', 'varity', 'elegent', 'clothinng', 'Similerly', and 'cloths', along with word-form errors such as 'lot's'. Phrasing like 'look as same as' is also unnatural. These inaccuracies do not entirely impede communication, but they cause some distraction for the reader. To improve lexical resource, the student should broaden their vocabulary control, refine word forms, and pay closer attention to spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response displays a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as 'Although there are several reasons behind this trend.' and 'People should be encouraged to buy necessary clothes only so that they can use their savings...'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly missing articles ('the fashion indsutry'), preposition usage ('behind this trend' versus 'reasons for'), and subject-verb or plural agreement ('multiple clothes' versus 'multiple cloths'). While these errors rarely completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To progress, the writer needs to produce a greater proportion of error-free sentences and refine their control over complex structures.
