Student answer (Band 6.0)
These days people prefer to buy so many clothes in some regions of the world. There are various reasons for spending money on clothes such as variety available in the market and discounts offered by most of the brands. To ensure, that people should not buy that much clothes, authorties must aware them that they are depleting their funds and later on throwing clothes after one use is impacting the environment in numerous ways.
The primary reason for this trend is the variety of clothes available in the market as compared to the past. People have lot of options such as which fabric they want to choose, style of the clothes and from which well known designer and brand they want to purchase. As a result, they spend hefty amount on clothes because these days appearance matters a lot to every person living in this developing world.
Another cause of buying too many clothes is the convenience offered by the online shopping rather than commuting physically to the malls and shops. Websites provide discounts and free delivery to the customers so they prefer to shop online and buy whatever new is available in the market. These days people earn good money so to bring happines in their busy life they buy clothes which make them stress free from the hectic schedule.
People would be persuaded to alleviate the number of clothes they buy by making them aware how badly they are impacting the environment and spending their hard earned money. Most of the individuals buying different clothes for every special occassion and after wearing them once they prefer to donate or putting in the recycle bins. Hence, factories which produce clothes are affecting the environment by using natural resources and pollution produced by them is impacting to the people who live nearby.
In conclusion, this trend of purchasing far too many clothes should be reduced according to the needs of the people. Brands which are producing variety of options should be halted immediatly because they are impacting the environment and people are spending lot of money to purchase them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by identifying reasons for excessive clothing purchases, such as variety, discounts, and online convenience, while also suggesting persuasion methods like environmental awareness. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the discussion on online shopping is slightly repetitive, and the final conclusion introduces a somewhat extreme suggestion to halt clothing brands entirely rather than exploring realistic behavioral changes. The position is generally clear throughout, though ideas would benefit from deeper extension and more precise supporting examples to reach a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure that addresses the prompt logically. Introduction and conclusion are present, and the body paragraphs focus on distinct points like variety and convenience. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For example, transitional phrases such as 'To ensure, that people should not buy that much clothes' feel awkward and heavy-handed. Referencing and progression are occasionally blurred by repetitive phrasing and simple connective links, meaning the flow between sentences lacks the seamless progression characteristic of higher band levels.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'depleting their funds', 'convenience', and 'environment'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as writing 'authorties must aware them' instead of 'make them aware', 'bring happines', and 'alleviate the number' instead of 'reduce the number'. Spelling errors like 'occassion' and 'immediatly' also occur. These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score because precision and natural control are not consistently maintained.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordinate clauses and relative structures, such as in 'People have lot of options such as which fabric they want to choose'. However, there are some persistent errors in grammar and punctuation. Article omissions are common, such as 'authorties must aware them' and 'spend hefty amount'. Other errors include preposition misuse and subject-verb agreement slips, like 'People have lot of options' and 'pollution produced by them is impacting to the people'. While these errors rarely impede communication, the presence of frequent minor structural slips keeps the grammatical control at this level.
