Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially. While both parts of the prompt are touched upon—mentioning reasons such as following fashion trends and social media influencers, and proposing solutions like taking up hobbies and travelling—the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the explanation of how online shopping and social media drive clothing purchases relies heavily on basic assertions without deeper extension. Similarly, the suggested solution of playing mobile games to develop a career path is tangential and lacks clear connection to reducing clothing consumption. The writer attempts to present a position, but the overall development of ideas is restricted, placing the response at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some organization with discernible paragraph breaks and basic linking words such as 'Moreover', 'To begin with', and 'To conclude'. However, there is no clear overall progression of thought, and cohesive devices are frequently repetitive or mechanical. For example, transition phrases like 'To explain' and 'To add on' are overused and sometimes applied inaccurately to connect sentences. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as pronoun usage in sentences like 'influncers that they like, to look like them'. While paragraphs are attempted, the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed, preventing the response from achieving a higher level of logical structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'enhancement in technology' and 'career path options', but these attempts are marred by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling (e.g., 'Cloths' instead of clothes, 'treands', 'influncers', 'habbit', 'trevelling', 'varity'). These lexical inadequacies and frequent spelling errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader and prevent precise communication. To improve, the writer needs to expand their range of vocabulary and focus heavily on accurate word forms and spelling control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response employs a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'every person have smart phones'), missing articles (e.g., 'in india', 'with more varity'), and incorrect prepositions (e.g., 'prefer do a online shopping', 'spend their time for travelling'). Punctuation and capitalization errors are also noticeable, such as lowercase letters at the start of clauses or proper nouns. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader.
