Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this materialistic behaved world there is constatnt rising demand for garments and comodities related to clothes. There are two sided of this world, One side belongs to the developed nation and other side belongs to developing nation. It's quite the observation that developed side of the world where standard of living is high also has high demand for branded clothes and fasionable accessories.
Constant change in the fasion, trends and rising users of social media especially at very young age group i.e right above 16 years of age seems to be the likely reason for overpurchasing of clothes in market. Lately from my observation i see alot of social media influencers are coming in limelight with brand collaborations without any knowledge of product just for the sake of views, fame and money. Many good brands are collaborating with new up-coming social media influencers to promote their clothing brand with a strategy to pool off marketing in targeted low alloted budget.
There is a need of urgency in this fast forwarding world to understand both pros and cons of any marketing gimmik available widely. In my opinion there are many ways we can reach out to people and spread awareness regarding annual waste production from out-fashioned clothes and how they are left in a dump yard. Young group of people can be targeted via social media through influencers in a same way infleuncers promote clothes, For eg. having more open debates on social media regarding environmental impact of waste from out-fashioned clothes.
In conclusion the excessive purchase of garments has caused alot of environemntal impacts like shortage of water in many parts of the city surrounded by garments manufacturing industries. Risign use of chemically processed dyes and its disposal in open drain has caused alot of environmental damage already which if further not stopped can be irreversible. Lately i have seen alot of radio broadcast, advertisment and goverment campaings to recycle and upcycle fabric waste.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by identifying reasons for overpurchasing clothes, such as social media trends and brand collaborations, and suggesting solutions like awareness campaigns. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the second main paragraph explores influencer marketing well, but the discussion regarding solutions in the third and fourth paragraphs tends to generalise and lacks deeper extension of how these educational measures would directly alter consumer habits. The position is generally clear throughout, maintaining focus on the global consumer culture and environmental impacts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from causes to solutions and consequences. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate introduction, causes, solutions, and conclusion. However, referencing and cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the abrupt transition in 'There are two sided of this world, One side belongs to the developed nation and other side belongs to developing nation.' Pronoun referencing and linking phrases could be managed more smoothly to establish clearer relationships between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing a sufficient range to discuss consumerism and fashion trends. The writer attempts less common lexical items such as 'materialistic,' 'collaborations,' and 'environmental impact,' but there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form throughout the text, including 'constatnt' for constant, 'comodities' for commodities, 'fasion' for fashion, 'gimmik' for gimmick, and 'Risign' for rising. These errors occasionally distract the reader, though they do not impede overall communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly concerning articles, plurals, and subject-verb agreement. Examples include 'In this materialistic behaved world there is constatnt rising demand,' 'There are two sided,' 'alot of social media influencers are coming in limelight,' and 'Young group of people.' Punctuation is also weak in places, such as missing commas and apostrophes. These errors represent a pattern of inaccuracy typical of this level.
