Student answer (Band 6.0)

Undoubtedly, clothes had been remained one of a rudimentary needs of the human even from the stone age era. Recently, it has come to notice that many people spends extravagently on clothes now it takes a considerable fraction of their earnings.

There are numerous reasons behind this behaviour of people, such as in the current time, clothes are being considered a symbol of status in society. People think that their lucrative and expensive clothes help them in building other people's perception about them. Additionally, they do not prefer wearing same clothes that they have already used in other events.

Moreover, some people want to look different, decent, fashionable and stylish depending on their personal choice. Thus, they buy more than what is needed for them. Moving forward, many companies that deal in clothing businesses understand people's psychology, and they take an advantage of it. These companies are advertising their products in such a manner that they directly hit people's psychology. Furthermore, they have also covered online platforms by selling their products there.

It is the need of the hour to make people understand that they should come out the mythological concept of status-quo. This idea can never make their life better from any angle. On the other hand, they should save some money to cope with the unforeseen situations, which they may encounter in the future. Additionally, they should not be affected by the people's perceptions about them. Their perception might change in a blink.

Definitely, people are aware of the current situation of some public figures. Before they used to live a lucrative and lavish life because of their mismanagement of their money resources now they are compelled to live in austerity.

From my perspective, we should not spend more than that is needed or required to spend a healthy life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify status-seeking, wanting different outfits, and clothing advertising as reasons, then recommend resisting social pressure and saving money. These are relevant ideas, and the examples about public figures add some support. However, the solutions focus mainly on individuals’ attitudes and financial prudence; the response does not explain clearly how people could be persuaded to change, for example through public campaigns, incentives, or changes in marketing. Some reasons, such as wanting to look fashionable, are stated but not developed with a specific explanation or example. A clearer, more fully supported account of both causes and practical ways to influence buying habits would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces the issue, gives reasons, presents suggestions, and ends with a personal view. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and signposts such as “Additionally,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” guide the reader. However, some links are mechanical or do not show the relationship between ideas precisely. “Moving forward” introduces another cause rather than a future step, while the paragraph about public figures is not clearly connected to the proposed solutions. The final sentence repeats the general message without bringing the causes and solutions together. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s central point explicit, with supporting details grouped around it.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “symbol of status,” “people’s perceptions,” “advertising,” and “unforeseen situations.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “lucrative and lavish life,” but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural and can make the meaning less clear. For example, “come out the mythological concept” does not express the intended idea naturally, and “clothing businesses” is less precise than a phrase such as “clothing companies.” “Extravagently” is also misspelled, and “a rudimentary needs” has an incorrect form. Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than ornate wording, and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “that,” “which,” and “because,” and most of the message remains understandable. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction persist. For instance, “clothes had been remained” combines incompatible verb forms, and “many people spends” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “they should come out the mythological concept,” the verb pattern is incomplete, while “a rudimentary needs” shows an article and number mismatch. The sentence beginning “Before they used to live…” also needs clearer punctuation to separate the contrast. Review these patterns and aim for more consistently accurate complex sentences.
