Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the question: it identifies social-media influence and clothing for different occasions as reasons, then suggests donating used clothes and choosing better-quality items. These ideas are relevant, and the examples of actors wearing new styles and traditional clothing at festivals help illustrate them. However, the causes are developed more clearly than the solutions. Donating old clothes may reduce waste, but the link to persuading people to buy fewer clothes is not fully explained; likewise, buying durable items needs a clearer explanation of how it changes purchasing habits. The conclusion restates the causes and offers a general recommendation, but does not bring the proposed measures together. Explain the mechanism behind each solution and support it with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for causes and solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from one reason to another is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “For instance,” “Additionally,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. At times, however, the linking feels formulaic: several sentences use “This is mainly because” or “As a result,” and some connections are not fully logical, particularly the claim that donating clothes will reduce the number people buy. Clarify how each point leads to the next, and use pronouns or transitions only when their reference is unmistakable. This would make cohesion more natural and precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “social media influencers,” “traditional wear,” “festive seasons,” “donate,” and “better quality.” It also attempts more formal alternatives such as “attire” and “apparels.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, and repeated use of “clothes,” “wear,” and “apparels” limits precision. Examples include “overstock of old clothes,” “different sorts of wearing,” and “valid reasons”; these do not express the intended meanings naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “infuencers” and “singnificant.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than substituting formal-sounding words, and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for clothing consumption and its effects would strengthen the vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay attempts both simple and complex sentences, including relative clauses (“influencers, who wears newly introduced clothes”) and conditional structures (“If these strategies are implemented effectively…”). Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “This trends are following” has incorrect agreement and verb form; “one of the primary reason” needs a plural noun; and “people might be influenced … who wears” has a subject–verb agreement error. The final sentence, “people could be able to persuaded,” also needs a passive form. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb, and review articles and singular/plural agreement. More accurate control of these patterns would make the complex attempts clearer.
