Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent days, the number of clothes people are purchasing has increased in many countries. In some part of the world people are purchasing many clothes because of different trends on internet and less price, although it can be controlled by budget and awarness in society.

There are several reason behind people buying many clothes that is following internet trends. Most people influenced by social media where they try to follow latest trends, so they buy many clothes to show their online friends and fans. Also, many people like to follow celebrity who generally wears different clothes all the time and young people like to follow this which is why they buy many clothes. Another main reason is price firm and spending money has increased in some part of nations. Some countries produced low quality material and they sell this type clothes in low price to attract people. Additionally, in many part of world people are spending more money than in the past though they spend lot of money on buying clothes. For example, in India people buy many clothes due to social media trends and the price of clothes are not to costly. As a result, buying more amount of clothes has increased.

The number of clothes people are buying can be reduced by awarness and low production of cheaper clothes. Governments and individuals should promote public awarness campaigns and social media pages who can teach them that buying many clothes is wasting money as well as it can be financial burden on middle class families. Besides this, cheaper clothes quality is harmful for health as some materials are made of polysters which leads to serious diseases such as cancer of skin. For instance, poor countries people who buy cheaper clothes to follow trends on social media which affects their health. Although it is easy to by cheaper cothes, expensive clothes are long lasting and high quality which absorb the sweat. Therefore, public awarness by social media or campaigns can be helpful to understand society.

In conclusion, people buy many clothes because of cheaper price and social media trends however they should buy good quality of clothes which is long lasting and good for health, also this can be done by public awarness and campaigns.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify social-media and celebrity trends, as well as low prices, as reasons for buying many clothes, and suggest awareness campaigns and reducing the supply of cheap clothing. The India example helps connect the causes to a real context. However, some points are not fully explained. For instance, the claim that people buy clothes “to show their online friends and fans” could be developed by explaining how online image or pressure encourages repeated purchases. The proposed solution of “low production” is mentioned but not clearly explained as a practical way to persuade consumers. The health argument about polyester and skin cancer is also asserted rather than supported. Develop these ideas more clearly and directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. The reader can follow the main progression from reasons to ways of reducing purchases. You also use linking expressions such as “Also,” “Additionally,” “For example,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence of the solutions paragraph combines awareness with “low production” without showing how the two relate, and “Besides this” introduces a health claim whose link to reducing purchases needs to be made explicit. Some ideas are repeated, particularly social-media trends and public awareness. Use clearer references and organise each paragraph around a distinct main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “social media trends,” “celebrity,” “low quality material,” “financial burden,” and “long lasting.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “public awareness campaigns.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “awarness,” “polysters,” and “to costly.” Some phrases are awkward or imprecise, such as “price firm,” “buying more amount of clothes,” and “expensive clothes are long lasting and high quality which absorb the sweat.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Work on accurate collocations and word forms, and choose precise expressions for production, affordability, and clothing quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “although,” and “which is why,” so there is some variety in sentence structure. The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “There are several reason” needs plural agreement, while “Most people influenced by social media” is missing a verb. In “the price of clothes are,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “in some part of the world” needs a plural form or an article. Some long sentences also join ideas awkwardly, especially the opening sentence and the sentence beginning “Another main reason.” Aim for more controlled complex sentences and check agreement and articles during editing.
