Reason for rise in sales.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify a relevant reason for overbuying: clothes are used to express personality and social image, and people follow changing trends. The example about Mumbai’s cotton market attempts to support this point, although its connection to buying too many clothes is not clearly explained. However, the response addresses only the reasons in any detail. The prompt also asks how people can be persuaded to buy fewer clothes, but the “Solution” section contains only a heading and no proposed measures. The introduction promises solutions to protect the environment, yet this is not developed. The response is also below the required 250 words. To improve, explain practical measures—such as promoting durable clothing, repairing garments, or discouraging fast fashion—and support them with relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: an introduction is followed by a section on reasons, and the separate “Solution to bring it down” heading signals the second part of the task. Basic linking expressions such as “To commence with,” “for example,” and “Additionaly” also show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is limited: the reasons paragraph moves from image and trends to a cotton-market statistic and then company quality without clearly showing how each point relates to excessive purchasing. The solution heading is not followed by a paragraph, so the response has no complete overall progression. Some transitions are mechanical, and inconsistent capitalisation after commas interrupts the flow. Use focused paragraphs, with one main idea and a clear explanation in each.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “fashion,” “trends,” “demand and supply,” “clothing industry,” and “manufacturing,” and phrases such as “personality and image building” show an effort to express abstract ideas. However, the usable range is limited and errors in spelling, word form, and collocation are noticeable throughout, sometimes making the reader pause. Examples include “contemprary ephoc,” “clohtes,” “affordablility,” and “fullfil,” as well as the unnatural phrase “the market for demand and supply of the clothes.” Several expressions are repeated, particularly “clothes,” “trends,” and “rise in sales.” Proofread carefully and choose more natural combinations, such as “demand for clothing” and “keep up with fashion trends,” while varying repeated terms where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a cause-and-effect construction beginning “People are more keen to buy new clothes…” and a sentence introduced by “In Mumbai, for example.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Agreement and verb-form problems appear in “the sales … has be surged up” and “The companies has reduced,” while articles and plural forms are inconsistent in “too much clothes” and “as sign of personality.” The final sentence is incomplete, ending with “changing their manfuacturin,” which prevents the idea from being fully understood. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas using accurate clauses and check subject–verb agreement.
