Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both questions: you identify celebrity influence, greater spending power, online shopping and status as reasons, then suggest government awareness campaigns and saving money. These points are relevant, but they are mostly listed rather than explained or supported with a specific example. The proposed campaign is the clearest solution, especially where you connect clothing waste with environmental harm, but it would benefit from explaining how it could change buying habits. The conclusion repeats the general message without adding a clear, developed position. The response is also three words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement. Develop each main idea with a reason, consequence or example to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph about reasons, a paragraph about solutions and a conclusion. The contrast between “on the one hand” and “on the other hand” helps signal the two parts of the task, and the main ideas are generally grouped appropriately. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several points are joined in long strings, particularly the reasons paragraph. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore” and “moreover” are used, but they do not always show a clear relationship between ideas. Improve cohesion by giving each paragraph a clear topic sentence, separating distinct points, and using pronouns or transitions that make connections explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “celebrities,” “status,” “wastage,” “environment,” and “saving money.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “show up infront of their near and dear,” “a fashionable clothes,” and “disfollow this trend.” Spelling errors such as “fasionable,” “resons,” and “enviornment” are also frequent and reduce clarity. Aim to learn accurate topic collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe people as wanting to “keep up with fashion trends” or “impress others,” rather than relying on unclear phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a contrast between environmental effects on people and wildlife. However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence construction, verb forms, articles and agreement often make the reader work to understand your meaning. For example, “there are several reasons why people buy clothes today is technological era” combines ideas without a clear grammatical structure, while “people should be know” uses an incorrect verb pattern. Punctuation is also inconsistent, especially around long sentences. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with one subordinate clause at a time, checking that each sentence has a clear subject and verb.
