Student answer (Band 5.0)
In Today's fashionable world, people like to do lots of shopping including clothes. There are can be so many reasons like up to date with fashion, make good impression in the society. However, they need to spend their money carefully to reduce the number of clothes they buy.
First of all, in many countries, people spend a good amount of their money to buy clothes because they want to follow the new trends in the market. Poeple want to stay up to date with new trends and want to look modern. For example, teenagers want to follow all the trends in the market to look cool in their friend circle. They follow new hair styles, nail trends and clothing trends as well.
Moreover, people to make a good impression in the society and want to show off their class. Some people feel like if they buy lots of new clothes they will have a good reputation in the society. Everyone thinks like that they are so rich and have lots of money. For instance, some ladies do not want to repeat their clothes because they want to look rich in their friend circle.
On the other hand, people need to reduce the number of clothes they buy because it is a wastage of money. If someone has to many clothes, they do not have to buy more. They need to save money for their future and spend money on other important things in their life like education, buy a new car.
In conclusion, I would like to say that this is a good thing if people want to stay up to day with new trends However, they need to understand where they need to stop spending all their money on shopping.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify two relevant reasons for buying many clothes: keeping up with trends and trying to appear wealthy or gain social approval. The examples about teenagers and women who avoid repeating outfits help illustrate these points. However, the task is only partially addressed because the second question asks how people can be persuaded to buy fewer clothes, while your response mainly says they should save money and spend it on other things. This is advice, but it does not explain how to persuade them—for example, through education, advertising campaigns, or incentives. Your position is also not fully clear: the conclusion calls following trends “a good thing” before advising people to stop overspending. Develop practical persuasion methods and make your view consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two reasons, a paragraph about reducing purchases, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression is limited because the solution paragraph gives only general advice and does not build on the reasons already discussed. Some linking is mechanical, and the contrast marker “On the other hand” does not clearly introduce a contrasting position. The conclusion also repeats the main point rather than bringing the response to a clear resolution. Use links that show the precise relationship between ideas, and organise the solution paragraph around specific ways to influence shoppers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “new trends,” “good impression,” “reputation,” and “save money.” These phrases make the discussion understandable, and examples such as “friend circle” show an attempt to express social influence. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, including repeated references to “society” and “lots of” clothes or money. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as “Poeple,” “up to day,” and “wastage of money,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and varied wording, such as describing social status or consumer pressure, and proofread spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic subordinate clauses, for example, “because they want to follow the new trends in the market.” Most of the message remains understandable, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. The opening contains the faulty construction “There are can be so many reasons,” while “people to make a good impression” lacks a finite verb. Other problems include “if they buy lots of new clothes they will have a good reputation” without clear clause punctuation, and “they do not have to buy more,” where the intended meaning is unclear. The conclusion also joins sentences without appropriate punctuation. Practise building accurate complete sentences first, then add varied clauses and check verb forms, articles, and punctuation.
