Student answer (Band 6.0)

Fashion industry is spreading now a days. People buy varities of clothes even if they already have them. Many people think that number of reasons lead to this problem such as to maintain social status etc. However, some solutions are necessary otherwise it might increases financial pressure. I will explain reasons and solutions in upcoming paragraphs along with examples.

The first reason why people buy far too many clothes is that they want to maintain their social status. This is because they want to appear fashionable and wealthy. They feel need of different clothes for different occasions. For example, many individuals purchase dresses or suits in order to attend parties and weddings. As a result, unnecessary spedning causes financial pressure. Secondly, some people find shopping as a hobby. They consider shopping a form of therapy. when they have new clothes, giving them relaxation and temporary reduces their stress. Consquently, for instant excitement they might expereince debt at the end.

However, some important steps should be taken to manage this problem. Firstly, to reduce financial stress, people should distinguish between wants and needs. They sould consider their income. It might encourage people to think before purchasing, ending with not buy clothes which they do not geniunley need. For instance, people can wear existing outfits for smallar parties. Hence, they could manage their financial betterly. Moreover, people should find alternative ways to reduce stress such as exercise is healthier way to alter the stress. Physical activties can provide people satisfaction and achievement such as exercsing instead of shopping when feel stressed. Ultimately, it would not push them to purchase extra cloths and mitiagte the financial stress.

In conclusion, according to above mentioned arguments, there are some reasons, casuing people to buy clothes such as social status and hobby. However, some solutions can decrease these problems like making differance in needs and wants, and alternatvies to manage stress.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the task: social status and shopping for emotional relief are given as reasons, while budgeting and healthier stress-management activities are proposed as ways to reduce purchases. The examples of buying outfits for parties and weddings, and wearing existing clothes to smaller events, help make the points relevant. Your opening and conclusion also maintain a clear focus. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others: the link between social status and buying excessive quantities could be explained more directly, and the suggestions rely mainly on individual choices rather than exploring how people might be persuaded, such as through awareness campaigns or incentives. The response therefore covers the task well overall, but some points need fuller explanation and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, a paragraph presenting solutions, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “The first reason,” “Secondly,” “Firstly,” and “Moreover” make the progression easy to follow. At times, however, these links feel mechanical, and some connections between ideas are not fully clear. For example, “when they have new clothes, giving them relaxation” does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence, while “ending with not buy clothes” makes the relationship between budgeting and reduced purchases difficult to follow. The conclusion repeats the main points but adds little synthesis. Use clearer sentence links and pronoun references, and make each paragraph develop one connected line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “social status,” “financial pressure,” “temporary,” and “alternative ways to reduce stress.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and there are attempts to use less common expressions. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “varities,” “spedning,” “Consquently,” “expereince,” and “alternatvies.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “manage their financial betterly” and “making differance in needs and wants.” These issues make the writing less precise and fluent, even though the intended meaning is generally understandable. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, for example “manage their finances” and “distinguish between needs and wants.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including explanations with “because,” examples introduced by “For example,” and a conditional structure with “otherwise.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but some grammatical errors remain and several complex sentences are not controlled successfully. For instance, “it might increases financial pressure” has an incorrect verb form, and “when they have new clothes, giving them relaxation” is an incomplete or poorly connected construction. There are also errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as the lowercase “when” after a full stop and missing spaces after full stops. Work on verb forms after modal verbs, complete clause structure, and punctuation; these improvements would make your range more accurate and easier to read.
