Student answer (Band 6.0)
In todays modern era, the Fashion Industry is growing extensively, as a result consumers spent a lot of money buying unnecessary clothing. This is mainly caused by rapid change in fashion, cheap prices, and social media advertisements. This essay will discuss why this happens and possible solutions to reduce this behaviour.
To begin with, one of the most significant reasons of increased clothing shopping is unstoppable growth of the Fashion Industry, which introduces new articles each month. This attracts people to buy new clothes even if it is not necessary. In addition, cheaper brands such as Urban Planet, Ardene, and Forever21 etc sell copies of cloths from expensive brands for reasonable prices but lower quality. These clothes do not even last for few months but still individuals purchase these to fulfil their desire of trying expensive fashion article.
Furthermore, another major contributing factor of demanding clothes sales is social media advertisements. In these advertisements famous actors and social media influencers influence fans to purchase brands. For example, when a famous actress wear a dress majority of the females starts buying similar dress to look like that famous celebrity. As a result, people end up spending money on attires.
To combat problem of increasing shopping habits for clothing the fashion designers should change trends less frequently so that old clothes do not look out dated to citizens. Moreover, governments need to introduce strict policies for recycling old daily wear items and also encourage brands to use recycled material to make new clothes. Last but not least, companies offering cheaper prices for their products should offer quality as well so tha people do not change items frequently.
To conclude, we should make efforts together to combat this issue as it resul

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question and give relevant reasons: rapidly changing fashion, inexpensive clothing, and celebrity or influencer promotion. The solutions—slower trend cycles, recycling policies, and better-quality affordable products—also respond to the task. However, some points are more fully explained than others. The example about fans copying an actress makes the influence of social media clear, while the proposed government policies are listed without explaining how they would persuade consumers to buy fewer clothes. The conclusion begins to restate the need for collective action but is cut off, so it does not provide a complete final summary. Develop each solution with a brief explanation of its likely effect and finish with a complete conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for causes, a paragraph for solutions, and a concluding section. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “To combat” help readers follow the progression, and the ideas within the cause paragraphs are generally grouped logically. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, several transitions feel formulaic, and the final paragraph is incomplete, leaving the essay without a clear ending. Some references are also broad—for example, “these” in “These clothes do not even last” could be made more precise. Use a complete conclusion and vary transitions by showing the relationship between ideas, rather than relying mainly on stock phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “Fashion Industry,” “social media advertisements,” “influencers,” “recycling,” and “recycled material.” There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “contributing factor” and “combat this issue,” though some combinations are inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “reasons of increased clothing shopping,” “demanding clothes sales,” and “fashion article”; these choices make parts of the response less precise. Spelling and word-form slips such as “cloths” and “out dated” also reduce accuracy, although the intended meaning is generally clear. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully. For instance, use “reasons for increased clothing purchases” and “fashion items” to express these ideas more idiomatically.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which introduces new articles each month” and a conditional structure in “even if it is not necessary.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. For example, “a famous actress wear” should use a past-tense or present-tense verb consistently, and “majority of the females starts” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The opening also joins two independent clauses with a comma, while “To conclude” is followed by an unfinished sentence. Review agreement and tense, and ensure every sentence is complete. These corrections would improve accuracy while preserving the range of structures you already attempt.
