In some parts of the world, people buy far too many clothes.

Student answer (Band 6.0)
People usually ends up buying a lot more clothes than they need. This happens all around the world, I believe. Fashion trends and discounts could be a reason behind this.
In some regions of the world, where there is extreme climatic conditions people need more layers of clothing. This would be one of the reasons for this. For instance, Canada has four seasons. People who live there need clothes which are suitable for each seasons. This will force them to buy more clothes for the purpose of layering to protect themselves from extreme temperatures. Adaptive clothing is crucial for survival. In contrast, some group of people buy clothes just for fun. Shopaholic people buys more than want they need. This catagory of people just likes to buy more and more and ends up using none.
However, this can reduced by careful consideration before purchasing. This could be a challange for shopaholic people and also for those who are clueless about shopping. Planning will help people to reduce the numbers. Those who struggle with over buying could totally use help of apps that to keep track of their shopping behaviour. Moreover, keeping a limit for monthly purchase for clothing will probably help to reduce spending. Another thing is that making use of reusable clothing option. This is a game changer. Instead of buying more and more clothes people can restyle and reuse the one they already have. Restyling and reusing old clothes are in trend now. This also help minimise waste reduction.
To conclude, people buy clothes sometimes for actual purpose and sometimes just because over shopping. Sometimes it is a need and otherwise jist wasting of money. Unnecessary spending on purchasing clothes can be avoid by taking proper measures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question and give relevant reasons and possible solutions. Fashion trends and discounts are identified as causes, while the discussion of people buying for enjoyment adds another relevant explanation. However, the paragraph about Canada focuses mainly on the practical need for seasonal clothing, which does not clearly explain why people buy far too many clothes; clarify the distinction between necessary purchases and excessive ones. Your solutions—planning, tracking purchases with apps, setting a monthly limit, and reusing clothes—are appropriate, but some are listed rather than explained. For example, explain how a spending limit or clothing-reuse habits would change purchasing behaviour. The conclusion restates the main point, though it could summarise the causes and solutions more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for causes and solutions, and a conclusion. This makes the main stages of your answer easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “For instance,” “In contrast,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude.” At times, however, the progression within paragraphs is less clear. The shift from climate-related clothing needs to shopaholic behaviour is abrupt, and “This is a game changer” does not clearly connect the reuse suggestion to the preceding point. Some references, such as “This” in “This also help minimise waste reduction,” are unclear. Use more precise links and explain how each example supports the paragraph’s main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “fashion trends,” “monthly purchase,” “shopping behaviour,” “layering,” and “reusable clothing.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal, such as “Shopaholic people,” “clueless about shopping,” “the numbers,” and “waste reduction.” Spelling errors including “catagory,” “challange,” and “jist” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise, natural phrasing—for example, describe people as “compulsive shoppers” and refer to “reducing textile waste.” This would make your explanations clearer and more suitable for an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “people who live there” and a conditional structure in “Those who struggle with over buying could…” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “People usually ends up” has subject–verb disagreement, “each seasons” has an incorrect plural, and “this can reduced” is missing the correct verb form. There are also errors in “Shopaholic people buys more than want they need” and “This also help.” Review agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction, and proofread for these patterns. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the control shown in your writing.
