Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing trend in some parts of the world, in which individuals buy too much clothes. I think main reasons behind this trend is due to the expansion of online selling platforms and fast changing fashion trends. This trend can be reduced by educating individuals about the importance of saving habits and its negative effect on the environment.
Firstly, people can easily buy clothes at their convenience. In the past, people had to visit shops physically to buy clothes. However, individuals can now easily purchase products through online platforms such as Amazon and Flipkart. Moreover, since this platforms don't have any operational cost such as rent similar to the traditional shops , they offer many discounts to attract customers. For instance, many e-commerce platforms provide attracting offers to their products in every season. As result, many people buy clothes eventhough they actually don't need it. Additionally, most individuals follow fashion trends on social media platforms. Consequently, fashion pages regulary promote their page with new trends through influencers, which attract a significant number of customers. Eventually, they buy clothes according to changing fashion trends.
This problem can be addressed by public campigns and education. when people buy multiple clothes, they are not realising it's negative impacts on their lives. Over spending on clothes can result in poor savings. Goverments and educational institutions can educate public about the importance of developing the saving habits. For example, authorities can provide various examples showing how savings can help during financial difficulties. Additionally, the government can educate the negative impacts of textile factorie. they can aware public about the negative effect of harmful gases produced while cloth production. In that way people become more aware about their actions and they would try to reduce it.
To conclude, although people become happier when they buy new clothes everytime, this habit can have negative impact on environment and leads to fewer savings. The main reason for this habit is easy avilability of online selling platforms and frequent changing fashion trends. This issue can be addressed through right steps from the government. The government can educate public about the negative impacts of this trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the question and presents a clear explanation: online shopping and changing fashion trends encourage purchases, while education is proposed as a way to reduce them. The examples of Amazon, Flipkart, seasonal discounts and social-media influencers make the causes relevant. The environmental and savings arguments also support the proposed solution. However, the solutions are less fully developed than the causes: the discussion focuses mainly on government education, with little explanation of how campaigns would change buying behaviour or what individuals could do. The conclusion restates the main points but adds little development. To strengthen the response, explain the likely effect of each proposed measure and connect it directly to reducing unnecessary purchases.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to causes, solutions and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have a central focus, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” “Additionally” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. The progression within the causes paragraph is especially clear, from convenient online access to discounts and then fashion influence. At times, however, linking is mechanical or the reference is unclear: “this trend” and “it” do not always identify precisely what is being discussed, and “Additionally” is used to introduce several different points. Improve cohesion by using more precise references and showing the relationship between ideas, rather than relying mainly on additive transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “online platforms,” “fashion trends,” “financial difficulties” and “negative impacts,” so the main ideas are generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “operational cost” and “textile factories.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “campigns,” “regulary,” “avilability” and “attracting offers.” Some combinations are unnatural, for example “promote their page with new trends” and “educate the negative impacts.” Use more accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. A broader range of precise terms for overconsumption, clothing production and consumer behaviour would also help express the argument more flexibly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “since,” “although” and “while,” and most sentences communicate the intended meaning. However, some errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction remain. For example, “I think main reasons … is” has a mismatch between the plural subject and verb, while “this platforms” and “it’s negative impacts” show problems with agreement or possessive form. In “they can aware public,” the verb pattern is incomplete, and “when people buy multiple clothes” begins a sentence without a capital letter. Review subject–verb agreement, articles and verb patterns, then proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries to make the complex structures more consistently accurate.
