Student answer (Band 6.0)
Over the past few decades, the fashion industry has witnessed people overbuying clothes. This essay will discuss the reasons and what measures should be taken to reduce people from buying excessive clothes.
There are several underlying reasons that contributes to this growing phenomenon. One of the primary reasons is the influence on social media. Nowadays, most of the people uses social networking sites like instagram and wants to get famous so which they make videos regularly so attract and gain people' attention they like wearing different attires. Another significant reason would be celebrities , when they show up in new fashion individual gets influenced and tend to buy same clothing as of them just to stay up to date which also sometime creates financial pressure on some people. For example- youngsters watching famous personalities on reels gets easily persuaded and inclines toward buying the same type of clothing.
On the other hand, some measures can be taken to avoid buying too many clothes. Firstly, influencers can educate there audience about how it is effecting our environment and why it is important to recycle the clothes rather than buying new ones.Secondly, clothes these days are really low priced which makes it easier for the customers to buy so making the price bit higher will make people think twice before buying .For instance- Famous personalities should also make videos in the old clothes and also tells everyone how they can restyle it so that they don't go for buying new ones.
To conclude ,social media has a great influence on shopping habits but awareness and buying durable garments can help mitigate this on -going serious issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: social media and celebrity influence are given as reasons, while environmental education, higher prices and promoting outfit reuse are proposed as measures. The examples about young people copying personalities and influencers restyling old clothes help make the response relevant. However, the reasons are more clearly explained than the solutions. For instance, raising clothing prices is mentioned, but you do not explain how this could be implemented or why it would persuade people without unfairly affecting those on lower incomes. The environmental point could also be developed by explaining the impact of fast fashion. Your conclusion restates the general direction, but a clearer summary of the main causes and measures would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions and a conclusion. The progression from social-media influence to celebrity influence is logical, and signposts such as “One of the primary reasons” and “Firstly” help readers follow the discussion. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. However, several connections are awkward or unclear, particularly the long sentence beginning “Nowadays, most of the people uses social networking sites,” where the sequence of actions is difficult to follow. The transition “On the other hand” also suggests contrast, although the next paragraph presents solutions rather than an opposing view. Use clearer sentence boundaries and more precise links between each claim and its explanation.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “fashion industry,” “financial pressure,” “recycle,” “durable garments” and “mitigate.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond basic everyday language, and the meaning is generally understandable. Some less natural word combinations and imprecise choices limit the clarity and flexibility of the vocabulary, however. For example, “influence on social media” would be more naturally expressed as “influence of social media,” while “buying same clothing as of them” is awkward and unclear. There are also spelling and form errors, such as “instagram” and “there audience.” Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and check spelling and word forms during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “when,” “which” and “so that.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas can usually be understood. However, some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction remain. For example, “reasons that contributes” should be “reasons that contribute,” and “most of the people uses” should be “most people use.” The sentence beginning “Nowadays” also contains an incomplete or faulty construction around “so which they make videos.” Punctuation and spacing around sentence boundaries are inconsistent, making some long sentences harder to process. Practise building complex sentences around one clear main clause, then check subject–verb agreement and verb forms.
