Student answer (Band 5.5)

Purchasing extra garments items have been seen over many countries whereas easy availability and low pricing would be a good reason.Though it is not wise to buy unnecessary clothings for mental pleasure.

It is now become a trend that many people are buying apparel items beside their needs. Moreover, some countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka where garments wear are cheap and affordable people seems to buy this just to make their wardrobe heavy.Low labor cost and lots of garments factories make accessories available here in good price.Although, peoples from winter areas are bound to have extra clothing items to make them warm which indicates a basic need rather than to waste money. It is found over priced in most of the winter dominated countries but people have to buy it for their wellbeing. For example, Canada,Russia and USA import garments items on high prices and people are bound to get it in large amount especially during snowfall begun.

Nevertheless, of having lots of garments accessories people bought in recent years it should curtail seriously. However, some people actually need to buy more apparel things as because they have more family members but it should put in mind that clothing items should dispose after a certain period and it make a more waste after this.Increasing the price of raw materials and labour cost will enhance the price which demotivated people to buy things overtime. In addition, government put extra charge on buying more items and make more disposal at house so that people will warn to buy apparel goods and think cautiously.

At the end, it has to be said that where clothing items affordable people will buy this enormously.Psychology need to change to those people beside put extra charge on items which will help to reduce buy unnecessary items.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: you identify affordability and easy availability as reasons, and suggest higher prices or charges as ways to discourage purchases. The examples of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Canada, Russia and the USA show an effort to make the discussion concrete. However, several points are unclear or only briefly explained. For instance, the claim that people buy clothes “just to make their wardrobe heavy” does not clearly explain the motivation, and the discussion of winter clothing shifts toward necessary purchases rather than excessive ones. Your proposed government charges are relevant, but you do not explain how they would be applied or why they would change habits. A clearer position and fuller explanation of the main causes and solutions would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph on solutions and a concluding statement. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Although,” and “In addition” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the discussion moves from low-cost clothing to winter necessities and then to imports without clearly connecting these points to excessive buying. Some connectors are used inaccurately or mechanically, including “Nevertheless, of having” and “Although” where the sentence does not form a clear contrast. References such as “this” and “it” are also sometimes unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main point and use simpler, more precise links between supporting details.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “apparel,” “wardrobe,” “labor cost,” “raw materials,” and “disposal.” This shows an effort to discuss clothing consumption and its consequences beyond basic terms. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which can make the meaning difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “garments wear,” “make their wardrobe heavy,” “garments accessories,” and “demotivated people” are not natural in this context. “Clothing items” and “buy” are repeated frequently, while some expressions do not convey a precise idea. Build a reliable set of natural collocations for consumer behaviour, such as “buy more than they need,” “fast fashion,” and “reduce consumption,” and check whether each chosen word fits its context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “Although” and “which,” and you use some longer sentences to connect reasons and examples. However, errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement and articles occur frequently and sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. For example, “Purchasing extra garments items have been seen” has problems with agreement and sentence construction, while “It is now become a trend” uses an incorrect verb form. In “people seems to buy,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “government put extra charge” lacks appropriate grammatical marking. Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time. Review subject–verb agreement, verb forms and article use.
