Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the topic of describing a hometown, covering aspects like food, culture, and landmarks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention specific places like 'Androon Lahore' and the 'Badshahi Mosque', the descriptions remain quite basic. To improve, you should aim to provide more depth by explaining why these places are significant or how they contribute to the city's character. The response is a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. Ensure you structure your writing into clear paragraphs to better organize your points about food, culture, and modern changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks paragraphing, which is essential for organizing ideas logically. The flow of information is somewhat disjointed, as you jump between topics—such as food, people, and historical sites—without clear transitions. While you use some cohesive devices like 'when', 'because', and 'so', they are often used repetitively or in a way that creates run-on sentences. To reach a higher band, you must use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition') and organize your response into distinct paragraphs for each main idea to improve the overall logical progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite basic and repetitive. You rely on simple descriptors like 'sweet', 'kind', and 'delicious'. There are also some errors in word choice and capitalization, such as 'the peoples' (should be 'the people') and 'his food' (referring to a city, so 'its food' is correct). To improve, try to incorporate more precise adjectives and topic-specific vocabulary related to urban development or cultural heritage. For example, instead of 'best spot for outing', you could use 'a popular destination for leisure activities'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are consistent issues with capitalization (e.g., 'lahore', 'punjab'), punctuation (missing spaces after periods), and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'lahore got to much changes'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. You often use run-on sentences where multiple ideas are joined incorrectly. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and work on using commas and periods correctly to separate distinct thoughts.
