Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the central issue—your neighbour plays video games loudly at night—and explain that it prevents you from sleeping and resting after work. You also make a relevant request for the agency to resolve the matter and mention that other neighbours are affected. However, the task is only partly addressed: you do not say when the problem began, and the action you want the agency to take remains vague. The statement that you do not want to contact the police gives context, but it does not replace a specific request, such as asking the agency to speak to the neighbour or enforce quiet hours. State when the noise started and clearly explain the action you expect.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The letter has a recognisable purpose and includes a greeting, a description of the problem, a request for help, and a sign-off. However, nearly all the information is placed in one long paragraph, so the reader has to work to follow the progression. Several ideas are joined repeatedly with “and also,” “so,” and “you know,” which makes the connections feel mechanical rather than clearly organised. The shift from your own difficulty sleeping to the other neighbours’ complaints could be made more deliberate. Use separate paragraphs for the problem and its effects, then your requested action, and choose a small number of clear linking phrases to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the basic situation, including “video games,” “sleep,” “proper rest,” and “police complaint.” There are also attempts at more formal language, such as “resolve this” and “your interference,” which suit a letter to an agency. However, spelling errors and awkward or imprecise expressions are noticeable, including “noice,” “unpleasent activities,” and “stay reluxed.” Some phrases, such as “register police complaint,” are not natural collocations and may slow the reader. Aim for accurate, conventional wording: for example, describe “excessive noise” and ask the agency to “address the disturbance.” Proofreading spelling and choosing natural word combinations would make your message clearer and more professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect several ideas in longer sentences, but these structures are often difficult to control, and there is little evidence of accurate sentence variety. For example, “They plays everyday aloud video games at night” has an agreement error and an unclear word order, while “I am writting this … so that you adderres this” contains problems with verb forms and sentence construction. Capitalisation and punctuation also make the long central sentence hard to follow, particularly where clauses are joined with commas. Use shorter, complete sentences and check subject–verb agreement, tense, and clause boundaries. For instance, separate the noise description from its effect: “My neighbour plays video games loudly every night. As a result, I cannot sleep properly.”
