Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Samuel Woods and i am your client at accommodation agency living at 402-42 kapp street, Arora. i am writing this letter in order to get your attention towards an ongoing issue with my neighbour at 403-42 kapp street, Mr. Robert who is a client of yours as well.
Mr. Robert has been playing vedio games late at night and plays music very loud. This issue started just few days ago after Mr. robert moved into the apartment. The noise cause our young ones to not sleep peacefully. Myself and my wife has been leaving for office in morning with no proper sleep. We even tried having a conversation with Mr. Robert but nothing came out useful out of it as Mr. Robert is still maintaining same habits.
I would sincirely request you to consider my request and have a formal conversation with Mr. Robert and try convince him to change his habits.
Yours faithfully
Samuel Woods

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you say the noise began “just few days ago” after the neighbour moved in, explain that it prevents your children sleeping and leaves you and your wife without proper rest before work, and ask the agency to speak with him. The purpose and requested action are clear, and the attempted conversation with the neighbour adds relevant context. Some details are less fully developed, however: the timing is vague, and the request could specify a practical outcome, such as asking the neighbour to keep noise down after a particular hour. The letter is appropriately formal overall, though a more precise account of the problem and a clearer remedy would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening that identifies the issue, a paragraph describing its onset and effects, and a final request to the agency. This makes the purpose easy to follow. You also use basic links such as “after,” “but,” and “as” to show sequence and contrast. Some connections are less smooth: the sentence beginning “The noise cause…” moves quickly from the children’s sleep to the adults’ work routine, and “We even tried…” could be linked more explicitly to the agency’s next steps. The opening includes several identifying details before stating the problem, which slightly delays the main point. More deliberate transitions and a concise, clearly separated request would strengthen the progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough relevant vocabulary to communicate the complaint, including “ongoing issue,” “late at night,” “proper sleep,” and “formal conversation.” These phrases suit the purpose, and the reader can understand the main problem. However, the range is somewhat limited, and several choices or spellings reduce precision: “get your attention towards” is an awkward collocation, “plays music very loud” is less natural than “plays music loudly,” and “nothing came out useful out of it” is unclear. There are also spelling and capitalization slips, including “vedio,” “sincirely,” and inconsistent use of “Mr. Robert.” Aim for more precise complaint language and check spelling carefully; this would make the letter sound more fluent and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, for example the sentence explaining that the noise affects the children and the sentence beginning “We even tried having a conversation…”. The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. In “The noise cause,” the singular subject needs a singular verb; “Myself and my wife has been leaving” has an incorrect subject form and agreement; and “in morning” needs an article. The opening also has sentence-boundary and capitalization problems, while “try convince him” needs an infinitive marker. These errors show that control is not yet consistent, particularly in agreement and sentence construction. Review these patterns and proofread each sentence, while continuing to practise varied but accurate structures.
