Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the central issue—your neighbour plays loud video games late at night—and explain that it prevents you from sleeping comfortably. You also ask the agency to intervene, so the main purpose is apparent. However, the task is only minimally addressed: you do not explain when the problem began, and the requested action is vague. The suggestion about a notice board and other residents playing music introduces a broader issue without clearly stating what should happen in this case. The response is also 141 words, below the required 150; the 15 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Add a clear start date or timeframe, describe the effects more fully, and request a specific action such as contacting the neighbour or enforcing quiet hours.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The letter has a recognisable opening, body and closing, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “I would like” signal the purpose of sections. However, the ideas do not progress clearly: the first body paragraph moves from the noise to a general request, while the next shifts to young adults, loud music and a notice board. These points are difficult to connect to the specific complaint. The long final sentence also combines several requests and explanations, making the message hard to follow. Use separate paragraphs for when the problem began, its effects, and the action you want. Keep each paragraph focused, and use clear links such as “As a result” and “Therefore” to show how the ideas relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “neighbour,” “late night,” “video games,” and “agency,” so the reader can identify the complaint. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make the letter less clear, such as “destrubing,” “confortables,” and “listining.” Some word combinations are also unnatural, including “control this problem” and “provide … peacefully room.” Choose precise phrases commonly used in formal complaints, such as “address the noise,” “disturbing,” and “a peaceful living environment.” Check spelling carefully and avoid introducing unrelated vocabulary about music or other residents unless it directly supports your request.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences, and the basic message is usually understandable. However, control of sentence structure and grammar is inconsistent. For example, “I hope yoe are well, I am writing to you letter inform this problem” joins two clauses with a comma and has an incomplete verb pattern. “I am dont sleep comfortable” and “I should be my agency control this problem” also show problems with verb forms and sentence construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “My” after “To begin with” and the lengthy final sentence. Use complete, direct sentences—for example, “I am writing to inform you about a problem”—and check subject–verb patterns, articles and punctuation before submitting.
