Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you say the problem began after you moved in a week ago, explain that the noise prevents you sleeping and affects your work and mental health, and ask the agency to take action. These details make the complaint relevant and understandable. However, the request is not specific: “do something in this matter” does not tell the agency whether you want it to contact the neighbour, enforce quiet hours, or investigate. The opening also gives background about the flat and furniture that does not help explain the complaint. Develop the requested action more clearly and keep the focus on the problem to make the letter more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable structure, with separate paragraphs for the complaint, its effects, and your request, followed by an appropriate closing. The sequence is generally understandable, and phrases such as “As it’s been a week” and “But, due to this loud music” help connect ideas. However, some links are awkward or repetitive, and the final request paragraph does not progress to a clear action. The sentence about the flat and furniture interrupts the explanation of when the noise began. Use each paragraph for one clear purpose, and connect the timeline directly to the neighbour’s behaviour so the progression feels more logical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “noise,” “loud music,” “sleep,” and “mental health,” so the main problem is clear. There are also attempts at more formal complaint language, such as “prompt action” and “consideration.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, including “noise pollution,” “complained,” and “effect me.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “play a video game with very loud to music,” which makes the description harder to follow. Choose precise, natural expressions for a formal letter and check spelling and word forms. For example, describe the neighbour as playing games with the volume turned up.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including the explanation beginning “As my job start at early morning,” and the sentence linking poor sleep to its effects. The reader can generally understand your meaning, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. For instance, “my job start” should use a third-person singular verb, while “the next day it not only effect me” needs a correctly formed verb and a clearer structure. Punctuation and apostrophes are also inconsistent, as in “it,s.” Practise accurate past and present forms and build longer sentences around a clear subject and verb; this will make your ideas easier to read.
