Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the main purpose of the letter and include all three requested points: you say the problem began “two weeks ago,” explain that the noise disrupts your sleep and leaves you tired, and ask the agency to contact your neighbour. The details about your wife and son add relevant context. However, the request is not fully developed: you could specify practical action, such as reminding the neighbour of quiet hours or following up if the noise continues. The repeated pleas to “solve my problem” do not add much detail, and the letter’s closing is unclear. Overall, the task is covered, but some ideas remain limited or insufficiently clear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The reader can identify the complaint and follow the basic sequence from the noise problem to its effects and your request. However, the response is presented as one long block, so the information is not arranged into clear stages. Several ideas are repeated, especially the requests to solve the problem, while the details about your family and your conversation with the neighbour appear abruptly near the end. Use separate paragraphs for the problem and its effects, your attempted solution, and the action you want from the agency. Linking phrases such as “Since then” and “As a result” would make the relationships between events clearer. The current organisation makes the progression difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the central issue, including “loud noise,” “video games,” “disturbs my sleep,” and “keep the noise down.” However, the range is limited and several choices or spellings make the letter less clear or less appropriate in tone. For example, “Complain” is incorrectly capitalised, “ass soon” and “soo” are misspelled, and “Corporate” does not fit the intended meaning in the closing. Repetition of “problem” and “solve my problem” also limits variety. Aim for precise, polite expressions suited to a formal complaint, such as “excessive noise,” “raise this matter with my neighbour,” and “resolve the issue.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most of the message can be understood, and you attempt to connect ideas, for example in “i cannot sleep properly, and i feel tired the next morning.” However, the range is mostly simple, and frequent errors in sentence boundaries, verb forms, and sentence construction make the writing difficult to read smoothly. Examples include “The problem started to weeks ago” and “Yesterday I ask the neighbour,” where the time reference is not matched by the verb form. In “My wife and my son very disturb this problem,” the sentence lacks a correctly formed verb structure. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, with sentences running together. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete sentence patterns.
