Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
The main intention of my email is to express concern regarding the loud music and sounds from the neighbouring flat holding the flat no: 102, who are through your agency.
Lately, it is observed that adjacent tenants are palying loud music, video games from past couple of week from night from 9:00 PM to 1:30 AM. To mention excatly start of the summer vacation.
Understandably, they wanted to enjoy their vactaion time with their family and friends. However, it is equalluy important to conisder the possible issue that can effect others. Furthermore, iam a working professional and need to travel to office every day; need to have proper rest in the night. Because of the loud music at nights my sleep is getting affected. Consequently, it is showing a greater affect on the performance and productivity at work.
I would suggest you team to have a conversation with the neighbours to make them understand the concrens and recommed them to lower the volume at nights. Else, you can help them in book the play room avaliable in the society at their convince.
I hope my suugestions will prompt an quick action from your end. keeping an open convesrtion will be beneficial.
Yours Sincerly,
Mounika

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three requested points: you identify the problem as beginning around the start of summer vacation, explain that noise from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. disrupts your sleep and work performance, and ask the agency to speak with the neighbours or suggest the society’s playroom. The purpose is clear and the proposed actions are relevant. To make the response more fully developed, clarify exactly when the noise first started—the phrase “from past couple of week” is vague—and make the request more direct, for example, asking the agency to intervene and ensure quiet hours are respected. The explanation that the neighbours want to enjoy their vacation is considerate, but could be shortened to give more space to the requested action.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: it introduces the complaint, gives the timing, describes the effect on you, and ends with suggested solutions. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and connectors such as “However,” “Furthermore,” and “Consequently” show relationships between ideas. This meets the lower-band expectation of a coherent arrangement and shows some of the flexibility expected at the next level. However, several transitions feel mechanical, and the final paragraph shifts from the agency’s action to a general comment about “keeping an open conversation” without clearly linking it to a specific request. Use more direct links between cause and effect, and finish with a concise, explicit request for the agency to contact the neighbours.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant formal language, including “express concern,” “proper rest,” and “performance and productivity,” and the reader can understand the main complaint. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make the letter less fluent. Examples include “holding the flat no,” “palying,” “concrens,” and “book the play room.” Some phrases also sound unnatural, such as “at their convince” and “prompt an quick action.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “the occupants of flat 102,” “play video games,” and “at their convenience.” Proofreading spelling and choosing standard complaint-letter vocabulary would make your meaning clearer and more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the contrast beginning “However” and the cause-and-effect sentence beginning “Consequently.” These help communicate the impact of the noise. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “it is observed that adjacent tenants are…” is an awkward passive construction, while “from past couple of week from night” lacks clear grammatical structure. “I would suggest you team to have a conversation” also needs a clearer pattern, such as “I would suggest that your team speak with the neighbours.” Work on articles, verb forms, and complete sentence structures, and check punctuation and capitalisation to improve accuracy.
