Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to complain you about my neighbours who rented their flat from your agency too. Recently they start disturbing us by playing loud video games late at night. we also request them to lower video game voice personally but they donot take it seriously.
My husband and I have morning jobs 8 to 5. We have no rest during our duty time. We have onlt night time to rest and complete our office tasks and presentation.Due to this issue we are unable to meet deadlines for work due to incomplete tasks. The noise is disturbing us mentally and physically.
I would request you kindly to take any strict action for this issue or change our flat location to some new calm area. Kindly look into this matter and resolve this as soon as possible. Looking forward to a positive reponse from you.
Thanks in advance.
Yours faithfully,
XYZ

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three required points: it identifies the neighbours’ late-night gaming, explains the effect on your work and wellbeing, and asks the agency to act or move you. The impact is supported with relevant details, such as having morning jobs and struggling to meet work deadlines. However, the timing of the problem is only described as “Recently,” so the agency is not given a clear indication of when it began. The requested action is also somewhat broad: “take any strict action” does not specify a practical step, such as contacting the neighbour or enforcing quiet hours. Develop these details more precisely to make the complaint fully clear and actionable.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: the opening introduces the complaint, the next paragraph describes its effects, and the final paragraph requests a solution. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and phrases such as “Due to this issue” connect cause and effect. Some links and references are less clear, however. “We have no rest during our duty time” does not clearly explain the contrast with the night-time disturbance, and “this issue” is repeated without adding much cohesion. The opening also moves quickly from the complaint to your attempt to speak to the neighbours. Use clearer transitions and make each paragraph’s progression more explicit—for example, state when the noise started before describing your efforts to resolve it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for a formal complaint, including “complain,” “disturbing,” “lower,” “deadlines,” and “resolve,” so the main message is understandable. There are also attempts to express the impact precisely through “mentally and physically.” However, some word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “complain you about,” “video game voice,” and “change our flat location to some new calm area.” Spelling errors such as “onlt” and “reponse,” along with “donot,” reduce accuracy and polish. Aim for natural complaint-letter phrases and check spelling carefully; for example, describe the noise as “the volume of the games” and request a move to a quieter flat.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes both simple statements and longer sentences, including “Due to this issue we are unable to meet deadlines for work due to incomplete tasks,” and the intended meaning is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in verb forms and sentence construction: “Recently they start disturbing us” needs a past-tense form, while “I am writing this letter to complain you” is missing the correct grammatical pattern. Capitalisation is inconsistent at the start of “we also request,” and punctuation is missing before “presentation.” The sentence about having “no rest during our duty time” also does not express the intended relationship clearly. Review tense consistency, verb patterns, and sentence boundaries while retaining your mix of short and complex sentences.
