Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I rented the appartment from you 6 months ago. It was nice living for 5 months but now i am facing some issuess recently duo to the neighbour who moved next to me last month. From the starting of the month they are playing loud music. I tried to confront them about it but they just seemed unbothered and they are keeping the volume high all day. All the other people in the flats are also getting disturbed.
I work late night shifts from 12 to 8 am and after the hactic day when i come home and try to sleep, the noise really hinder my sleep. Because of that i feel tired all day. It is quite difficult for me to survive like it. If i can not have effective sleep at home then what is the meaning of paying such a large chunk on rent?
I want to you to inform them and try to slove this problem as soon as posible. Otherwise I will have to change the accommodation and for that ineed you to give my this month rent back along with deposit. I am looking forward to hear from you.
your sincerely,
Gurpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you say the neighbour moved in last month, explain that the noise disrupts your sleep after night shifts and leaves you tired, and ask the agency to intervene. The request for a rent refund and deposit if you have to move also makes your desired outcome clear. These relevant details meet the task well. However, the timing is not fully consistent: you say the neighbour moved in last month, then that the noise began “from the starting of the month,” without clarifying which month. The request for action could also be more specific, such as asking the agency to contact the neighbour and enforce quiet hours. This covers the task, but some details need clearer development.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible progression from introducing the problem, to describing its effect, to requesting action. The paragraph breaks help distinguish the background from the impact and proposed solution, and links such as “Because of that” make the cause-and-effect relationship clear. Some connections are less smooth: “It was nice living for 5 months but now…” moves abruptly into the complaint, and “All the other people in the flats are also getting disturbed” is not developed or linked to a specific request. The final paragraph combines the agency’s immediate responsibility with a possible move and refund, which could be organised more clearly. A more formal opening and closing would also make the letter feel more cohesive as a complete communication.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You communicate the main issue using relevant vocabulary, including “loud,” “disturbed,” “hinder my sleep,” and “deposit.” There are also attempts at more expressive phrasing, such as “a large chunk on rent,” though this is informal for a letter to an agency. Several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “appartment,” “issuess,” “duo,” “hactic,” and “slove,” and “playing loud music” does not match the task’s description of loud video games. Some phrases are awkward or imprecise, such as “survive like it” and “give my this month rent back.” Build a more accurate range of formal complaint vocabulary and check spelling and collocations so the reader can understand your meaning without distraction.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more extended sentence forms, for example the sentence beginning “I work late night shifts…” explains the situation and its effect in a connected structure. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. In “the noise really hinder my sleep,” the singular subject needs a matching verb form; “I want to you to inform them” has an incorrect word order; and “I am looking forward to hear from you” needs a gerund after “to.” Capitalisation and punctuation also need attention, including lowercase “i” and the comma after “Dear Sir.” Review verb agreement, infinitive and gerund patterns, and sentence punctuation to make your varied structures more consistently accurate.
