Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three required points: you say the problem began “about two weeks ago,” explain that daytime work makes sleep important, and ask the agency to contact the neighbour and remind tenants about noise regulations. The purpose is clear and the tone is generally appropriate for a formal complaint. However, some details are less fully developed: the effect on your daily life is stated broadly, and the request could specify a practical outcome, such as asking the neighbour to keep the volume down after a particular time. Clarifying “after 11 am” as “after 11 p.m.” would also make the timing unambiguous. Overall, the relevant points are present, but some could be explained more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter follows a broadly sensible order: it introduces the complaint, explains when the noise began, describes its effect, and makes requests before closing. This gives the reader an overall sense of the message. However, most of the content is presented in one long block, so the stages of the letter are not clearly separated. Several ideas run together, particularly the description of the impact and the requests to the agency. Basic links such as “However” help, but punctuation and paragraphing are needed to make relationships between ideas clearer. Use separate paragraphs for the problem, its effects, and the action requested, and connect each point with clear sentence boundaries.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “high volume,” “constant noise,” “contact my neighbour,” and “noise regulation.” These choices make the complaint understandable. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable throughout, including “latter,” “nosie,” “affacting,” and “reslove,” and some phrases are not natural, such as “take action of this problem” and “keeping noise down.” The range is also somewhat repetitive, with “noise” and “problem” carrying much of the message. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common formal collocations for complaints. More precise wording would make the letter sound clearer and more professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, for example, “The problem started about two weeks ago when…” and “I would appreciate it if your agency could…”. These structures help communicate the sequence and your request. However, sentence boundaries and punctuation are often missing, and some verb forms and agreement patterns are inaccurate. For instance, “now it happen very night” needs a third-person verb and a correct frequency expression, while “the constant noise make” requires subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “I work during the day” also needs clearer grammatical linking to the reason you need sleep. Practise accurate present-tense forms and divide long strings of ideas into complete sentences.
