Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the main situation by reporting a neighbour’s late-night noise, explaining that it prevents you and your family from sleeping, and asking the agency to intervene. However, the task is only partially developed: the start date is given as “the 16th of August,” but it is unclear how this relates to your statement that you moved in last month, and the hours are confusing (“from 7: am still dawn”). The requested action is also vague and overly severe when you suggest the neighbour should be “out of the house.” The response is 22 words below the required minimum, which limits the detail you can provide. Add a clear timeline, explain the impact more fully, and request a specific, reasonable step such as contacting the neighbour or enforcing quiet hours.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable sequence: you introduce the complaint, describe the noise and its effect, then ask the agency to act. This gives the reader a basic structure, and the closing is appropriate in purpose. However, the ideas are compressed into a short opening and two long blocks, so the progression is not consistently clear. For example, “my neighbor my kee” and “from 7: am still dawn” interrupt the flow and make key details difficult to follow. The final request combines several possible outcomes without clearly prioritising one. Use separate paragraphs for the background, impact, and requested action, and connect them with straightforward transitions such as “Since then” and “As a result.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for a complaint, including “noise,” “disturbing the peace,” “problem,” and “sleep,” so the general purpose is understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or phrases are inaccurate or unclear, including “packed in,” “noise that disturbed,” and “quick notice.” “Play music” also does not match the task’s specific detail of loud video games. These choices can make the reader uncertain about what is happening or what action you want. Aim for precise, conventional complaint language, such as “moved into the flat,” “the noise has disturbed me,” and “issue a formal warning.” Check spelling and word forms carefully, and use vocabulary that accurately describes the gaming noise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but the range is limited and errors are frequent enough to make some details difficult to understand. Examples include “IM MAYOR THE NEW TENANT,” “my neighbor my kee has been disturbing,” and “we were on able to sleep.” The time expression “from 7: am still dawn” is also grammatically unclear, while the shifts between “has been disturbing” and “he will play” do not express the timeline consistently. Punctuation and capitalisation are unreliable, particularly in the opening and the long sentence beginning “Please sir.” Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past or present perfect forms consistently to describe when the problem began and whether it continues.
