Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you say the problem began shortly after moving in, explain that the noise worsens your migraine and affects your punctuality at work, and ask the agency to intervene. These details make your complaint relevant and your requested action clear. The account of the neighbours’ parties and sleepovers adds context, although the task focuses specifically on loud video games late at night, so keeping the description centred on that issue would make the response more precise. Your request to issue a notice or relocate the neighbours is clear, but the letter would be stronger if you first asked the agency to investigate or contact them and then stated a reasonable next step if the noise continued. The main points are covered, though some are more fully developed than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall shape: you introduce the complaint, explain its history and effects in separate paragraphs, and finish with a request and polite closing. This helps the reader follow your purpose. You also use linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “Hence” to signal relationships between ideas. However, some links are mechanical or awkward, and the sequence within the first paragraph of details is not always smooth. For example, the shift from the neighbours’ parties to your attempt to speak with them could be connected more clearly. Punctuation around connectors, such as “Because,” also interrupts the flow. Use fewer, more natural transitions and make each paragraph develop one main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant language for a formal complaint, including “nuisance,” “unbearable,” “sleeplessness,” and “assistance.” These choices communicate the seriousness of the problem. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “litterly,” “headace,” “vacant this building,” and “at priority basis.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “loud noises of games” and “music sound.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations: for example, describe “loud video-game noise” or “the noise from their games,” and ask the agency to “take action promptly.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise complaint-related vocabulary would improve clarity and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including “Since the sounds are very harsh, my headache is sometimes unbearable” and “I tried to talk with them so that matter can be solved.” This shows an effort to explain causes and consequences. However, errors in sentence construction, verb forms, articles, and punctuation are frequent enough to sometimes make the reader pause. For instance, “I am facing this issue from a long time ago” has an awkward tense pattern, while “I Just wanted you either talk with them solve this matter” lacks a clear grammatical structure. There are also inconsistent capital letters and comma spacing. Practise forming direct, complete requests and use consistent past or present-perfect forms when describing when the problem began and how long it has continued.
