Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the central problem—your neighbour plays video games late at night—and explain that it prevents you from sleeping. You also make requests, including introducing rules for tenants and providing a separate room for late-night gaming. However, the task is only partly developed: you do not clearly explain when the problem began, and the proposed actions are difficult to interpret, especially “shall be rules for every tents” and “arrange a seperate room.” The letter would address the task more fully if you stated when the noise first started and made one or two specific, practical requests, such as asking the agency to contact the neighbour and enforce quiet hours. The purpose is generally apparent, but some ideas remain unclear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable letter structure, with an opening, paragraphs about the noise and possible solutions, and a closing. The main points are broadly grouped in a sensible order. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first paragraph combines the rental location, the concern, and the effect of the noise, while the long paragraph of suggestions moves between rules, a separate room, and the neighbour’s work schedule. Linking expressions such as “Actually,” “moreover,” and “also” are used, but they do not always make the relationship between ideas clear. Use shorter, focused paragraphs and connect each request directly to the problem it addresses.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “neighbour,” “video game,” “noise,” “rules,” and “sleep,” so the reader can identify the topic. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the letter difficult to understand, such as “flate,” “sver issue,” “circumsentance,” and “tenets.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “focus on my sleep” and “get back soon to me.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, you could say that the noise “disturbs my sleep” and ask the agency to “contact the neighbour about the late-night noise.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to combine ideas in longer sentences, for example when explaining that the noise affects your sleep and when suggesting rules for tenants. However, these attempts often contain errors that make the message hard to follow. Examples include “your doing well,” “i was rented,” “the neighber … are playing,” and “i can not sleep,” which show problems with verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, and some sentences run together without clear boundaries. Practise writing accurate simple sentences first, then join related ideas with a clear clause structure. For instance: “The noise began recently and continues until late each night. As a result, I struggle to sleep before work.”
