Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the central issue—your neighbour’s loud gaming and music—and make a clear request for the agency to intervene, including asking the neighbour to lower the volume. However, the task is addressed only partially because the timing is not explained clearly: “Last night” describes one incident, while “every night” suggests an ongoing problem, but you do not say when it first began. You explain that the noise affects your mood and mental state, but the impact could be more specific and clearly connected to late-night disturbance. Develop the request in a more practical way, such as asking the agency to contact the neighbour and enforce quiet hours. The threat of eviction is abrupt and not fully explained.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The letter contains relevant information and is divided into paragraphs, with the noise, its effects, and your request appearing in a broadly understandable order. However, progression is uneven: the opening moves from dinner and television to the neighbour and then to an unclear comment about informing the agency. The effects paragraph repeats “This noise” and “This loud music,” while the final request shifts quickly from lowering the volume to asking the neighbour to leave. Linking words such as “because” and “if” are attempted, but some connections are unclear. Organise the letter around the three requested points, and use clear transitions to show how the noise began, what it causes, and what action you expect.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use basic vocabulary relevant to the situation, including “loud noise,” “video games,” “music,” “angry,” and “volume low,” so the main concern is generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the message difficult to interpret, such as “office stress,” “good imapct,” and “my mood shit.” Repetition of “loud” and “noise” also limits precision. Choose more suitable expressions for a formal complaint, for example, “disturbs my sleep,” “affects my concentration,” and “take appropriate action.” Check spelling and word forms, including “video,” “mental,” and “impact,” and avoid informal or offensive wording when writing to an agency.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to communicate events and requests using both simple sentences and longer structures, including “If they not act on this demand in future you will ask them to leave.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Verb forms are often inaccurate: “i done dinner,” “sit on sofa,” and “i hear” need appropriate past-tense forms. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction, as in “This noise make me angry” and “I want agency would go.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, with sentences joined together after full stops. Practise accurate past-tense narration and clear request forms, such as “I would like the agency to contact my neighbour.”
