Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the central problem—your neighbour plays video games late at night—and explain that the noise interrupts your sleep. You also make a clear request for the agency to move either your neighbour or you. However, the task is only partially addressed: you do not explain when the problem began, and the effects on your daily life are not developed beyond saying you feel sleepy and your sleep is interrupted. The request for a move is also brief and does not explain what action you expect the agency to take first. The response is 134 words, below the required 150, so there is limited space to develop these points. Add a specific start time or date and describe practical consequences, such as difficulty concentrating at work.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The main ideas are presented in a generally understandable order: you introduce the complaint, describe the noise and its effect, then state what you want the agency to do. The contrast signalled by “however” also helps connect your attempts to solve the problem with the fact that it continues. However, most of the complaint is packed into one long paragraph and sentence, so the progression is difficult to follow. Some links are unclear, particularly “and end since early morning,” and the closing pleasantries do not lead naturally from the request. Use separate paragraphs for the problem, its effects, and your requested action, and connect each point with clear, accurate transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the topic, including “neighbour,” “noise,” “sleep,” and “solution.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “move my bed twice,” which gives a concrete detail. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the letter less clear or less appropriate for a formal complaint. “Feel asleep” does not express the intended effect, while “doing noise” and “higher than should be it” are unnatural phrases. There are also spelling errors such as “writting,” “interrump,” and “afects.” Choose standard collocations such as “make a noise,” “interrupt my sleep,” and “the volume is too high,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to combine ideas using clauses, for example, “since the noise of his room…” and “however he stays…,” but the sentence structures are often faulty and the long sentence makes relationships between ideas hard to follow. There are recurring problems with verb forms and sentence construction, as in “he plays videogames at night and end since early morning,” and with articles or prepositions in “without any more payment.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and the comma splice before “however.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to interpret. Use shorter, complete sentences and practise accurate past and present forms, for example: “The problem began two weeks ago. He often plays until early morning, which interrupts my sleep.”
