Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the central issue—your neighbour makes loud noise at night—and explain that it prevents you and your family from sleeping. You also ask the agency to speak to the neighbour and suggest a consequence if the problem continues. However, the response is very brief and does not clearly explain when the problem began; “every time some time night time” is vague. The requested action is also expressed as an unclear ultimatum rather than a specific, reasonable request. The response contains 93 words, below the required 150, so there is not enough detail to develop the points. Add when the noise started, how it affects your daily life, and a clear request for the agency to investigate or contact the neighbour.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The main ideas appear in a broadly understandable order: you introduce the neighbour, describe the noise and its effect, then ask the agency to act. This gives the reader the basic purpose of the letter. However, the response is presented as one continuous block, and the ideas are joined with limited, sometimes confusing links, such as “and thats why” and “other then ask them.” The sequence of requests and the possible consequence are difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for the problem, its impact, and your requested action. Clear connectors such as “This began…,” “As a result…,” and “I would therefore appreciate it if…” would make the progression easier to understand.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use basic vocabulary relevant to the situation, including “neighbour,” “loudly,” “sleeping,” and “property,” so the central complaint can be understood. However, the range is narrow and some phrases are imprecise or repetitive, including “every time some time night time” and “take sleep properly.” Several expressions do not sound natural in a formal letter, particularly “ask them about that” and “they have to leave this property.” Choose more precise language for the noise, its effects, and the action you want the agency to take. For example, describe it as “loud video-game noise late at night” and say that it “disrupts our sleep.” A more formal register would also suit a letter to an agency.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to communicate several connected ideas, including the noise, its effect on your family, and a request to the agency. However, sentence structures are very limited, and frequent errors make parts difficult to interpret. For example, “we rented flat from you agency” has problems with articles and possessives, while “the our neighbour playing” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. The long final sentence joins several ideas without clear punctuation, making the request hard to follow. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use full stops to separate the problem, its impact, and your request. For instance: “The noise has been disturbing us for several weeks. As a result, my family cannot sleep properly.”
