Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three required points: you say the problem began “last week,” explain that the noise disrupts your sleep and concentration, and ask the agency to speak with the neighbour. The purpose of the letter is clear and the details are relevant. However, the effects and requested action are only briefly explained; for example, you could specify how often the gaming continues or ask the agency to remind the neighbour of quiet hours. The response is also four words below the 150-word minimum, so it needs a little more relevant detail. Developing these points more fully would make the request more persuasive and complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The information follows a generally sensible order: you introduce the issue, describe its effects, and make a request. This gives the reader a basic understanding of your purpose. However, most of the letter is presented as one long paragraph, and several ideas run together, particularly around “They plays video game” and the explanation of your work and assignments. The links between ideas are also repetitive, with “because” used to connect several points. Use separate paragraphs for the problem, its impact, and your requested action, and add clearer sentence boundaries and varied linking phrases. This would create a more evident progression and make the letter easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough relevant vocabulary to communicate the main issue, including “high volume,” “good sleep,” “concentrate,” and “assignments.” The reader can understand that late-night gaming is affecting your rest and responsibilities. However, the range is limited and some expressions are unnatural or imprecise, such as “a neighbour who lived near by flat” and “fix this problem.” There are also spelling and word-form issues, including “stated” where you mean “started,” and “near by” for “nearby.” Aim for more natural collocations and precise wording, such as “the neighbour in the adjoining flat” and “resolve the noise issue.” This would make the letter sound clearer and more appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas in longer sentences, and the basic meaning is usually recoverable. However, the response relies heavily on simple structures and the longer sentences are often difficult to control. For example, “They plays video game … because of that we did not get good sleep” contains subject–verb agreement and sentence-boundary problems, while “This problem stated from last week” has an incorrect verb form. There are also issues with articles, tense consistency, and punctuation, as in “I am living in a flat from your accommodation.” Use shorter, complete sentences when needed, and check agreement and verb forms. A few accurately controlled complex sentences would improve range without sacrificing clarity.
