Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the central issue—late-night video-game noise—and explain that it disrupts your sleep. However, the task is only minimally addressed: the start of the problem is unclear, since you mention “last night” but also say it has affected you for “several night[s].” The effect on you is only briefly described, and the letter does not say what you want the agency to do, such as contact the neighbour or enforce quiet hours. The response also does not meet the required 150-word minimum, which leaves important details undeveloped. To improve, clarify when the noise first began, explain its ongoing impact, and make a specific request to the agency.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence: you introduce the complaint, describe one evening, and then explain the effect on your sleep. Paragraph breaks help separate these points, and time markers such as “Last night” and “After about 30 minutes” make the incident easier to follow. However, the progression is incomplete because the account ends abruptly at “after,” and there is no closing request or sign-off. Some links between ideas are also unclear: the opening refers to several nights, while the next paragraph focuses on one night. Organise the letter around the three requested points, using a separate paragraph for the history, impact, and action requested, then finish with a clear closing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the general problem, including “very loud noise,” “woke me up,” and “impact my sleep.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, word-form, and spelling errors make the letter less natural: “to complaint,” “noise making,” “activies,” and “suddently.” The phrase “I find it acceptable if they play games at night” also seems to express the opposite of your intended complaint; you may mean that you would accept gaming if it were quieter. Choose more precise expressions for the disturbance and its consequences, and check spelling and collocations. For example, “disrupts my sleep” is more natural and specific than “impact my sleep.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, for example, “After about 30 minutes, the very loud noise suddenly woke me up,” followed by a sentence explaining where it came from. However, grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “my neighbour who live” (subject–verb agreement), “for several night” (plural form), and “I then found that noise caming” (verb form and sentence construction). The opening also uses an incorrect infinitive pattern in “writing this letter to complaint.” Work on agreement, plural nouns, and consistent past-tense narration. Short, carefully checked sentences would help you communicate the timeline and your request more clearly.
