Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The letter begins to explain the situation, identifying the neighbour’s arrival at the start of 2026 and saying that loud noise occurs at night. It also gives one effect: difficulty concentrating while preparing for work. However, the response is incomplete and addresses the task only minimally. The impact is cut off at “preparing my,” and there is no request for what the agency should do, so a key bullet point is entirely missing. The opening also spends space praising the flat rather than developing the complaint. The response is 68 words below the required minimum, which contributes to the lack of detail. Complete all three points, explain the consequences more fully, and clearly request an action such as contacting the neighbour or enforcing quiet hours.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The ideas are broadly in a sensible order: you introduce yourself and the flat, then describe the neighbour’s noise and begin to explain its effect. The contrast signalled by “but” also helps show that the situation has changed. However, the response ends mid-sentence, so it has no complete development or closing, and the reader cannot see a clear progression to a request. There is only one paragraph, with no separation between background, impact, and requested action. The opening sentence is also overloaded with several ideas. Use short, purposeful paragraphs and linking phrases such as “Since then” and “As a result” to guide the reader through the complaint.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for a complaint, including “loud,” “neighbour,” “focus,” and “facilities,” and the reader can understand the general problem. There is also an attempt to describe the effect rather than merely naming the noise. However, the range is limited, and several choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “problemmatic,” “soo loud,” and “huge loss in preparing.” “Loud music” also does not precisely match the task’s description of loud video games. Choose more exact collocations, for example “the sound of video games,” “disrupts my concentration,” and “affects my sleep.” Proofread spelling and avoid informal intensifiers such as “soo” in a formal letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts a complex sentence using “but” and “when,” and the basic meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, and punctuation make parts difficult to read. For example, “I rented flat number 33” needs an article, while “when the new neighbour arrives it become” shifts tense and has incorrect agreement. The sentence beginning “However” is incomplete at “preparing my,” leaving the reader without the intended object or conclusion. There are also missing spaces after full stops, as in “Rajeev.I.” Use complete sentences, keep past and present time references consistent, and check articles and subject–verb agreement.
