Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir,
Hope you are doing well. I'm living in the Sky Height apartment. I'm living on the third floor and my flat no is 365. Newly some boys rented the apartment next to the door of my apartment. Their flat no is 366. I want to inform you that, I'm facing some problems regarding that.
I want to inform you thet these boys make too much noice. At night the started playing music and loud video games late at night. As you know, I'm a medical student studying in Avicenna Medical College. My annual exams are held on the mid of next month. So, I have to study late at night. But the loud voice of their video games disturbs me alot. This will lose my concentration and attention.
I request you to advise them to keep the voice low or took any actions against them. So, I can study easily. I shall be very thankful to you for this favour.
Yours sincerely,
Zeeshan Khadim

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover the three requested points: you identify when the neighbours arrived (“Newly some boys rented”), explain that the noise disrupts your studying before exams, and ask the agency to advise them or take action. The reason for writing is clear and relevant. However, the start of the problem is not precise: “Newly” does not say when it began, and the request is broad rather than specifying a practical outcome, such as asking the agency to remind the tenants of quiet hours. The effect is explained mainly through concentration and attention, with little detail about sleep or other consequences. Developing these points more clearly would make the letter more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it introduces your flat and the complaint, describes the noise and its effect, then makes a request and closes politely. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages. Some links and references are less clear or repetitive, however. “I want to inform you” appears twice, and “At night the started playing music and loud video games late at night” repeats the time reference while making the sequence difficult to follow. The transition from the neighbours’ arrival to the noise could be more direct. Use a wider range of simple links, such as “Since they moved in” and “As a result,” and ensure each sentence adds a distinct point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “loud video games,” “medical student,” “annual exams,” and “concentration,” so the complaint is understandable. There is some attempt to use formal letter language in “I request” and “I shall be very thankful.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “noice,” “thet,” and “alot,” and some phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “keep the voice low” and “took any actions.” “Newly” is also not a natural way to describe when tenants moved in. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for noise complaints and formal requests to make your meaning more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You communicate the main message using a mixture of short statements and longer sentences, including a reason-and-result structure with “As you know” and “So.” The letter remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “At night the started playing” has an incorrect subject and verb form, while “This will lose my concentration” uses an unsuitable construction and tense. In “I request you to advise them … or took any actions,” the verb forms do not match. There are also issues with articles and sentence punctuation, such as “my flat no is 365.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and parallel verb forms in requests, while varying sentence structures.
