Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Mr. Poul,

My name is Shabana Ghouri. One year ago, I took a residence from your company agency. Since I have been living in this building I finds calm and coperative environment. I can say that all my buidling individuals are very humble and warm welcoming except one on my neighbour who is shiffted here one month before. His name is John and he is a university student. Because of his teenage he never understand mature things such as neighbourhood ethics.

I would like to explain that what problem i have been juggling from his side and what the root of it. I would elaborate it. when he came in our building i met him he was a shy and looked very obedient youngman. In initial days he followed all accommodation policy and rules. But gradully he forgot because of his some university-mates.They do party at at late night and like to listen and dance on fast trackes. But, there are many people in our building get ageitation from his parties because many people do not sleep due to loud music. I would like to say that I am High blood pressure patient and every night i take my medicine for sleep disorer. Owning to his defeaning track i cannot take goog sleep. Additionally, I cannot wakeup fresh for my job.

Therefore, i would like to request agency kindly meet that youngman and recall him residence policy and rules.

I hope you will consider my request and take some effective actions on this matter. I look forward for your prompt response.

Yours Sincerely,

Shabana Ghouri

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover the three main points: the neighbour arrived about a month ago, the late-night noise affects your sleep and work, and you ask the agency to remind him of the rules. These details make the complaint relevant and understandable. However, the timing of the problem is not stated quite directly: the letter describes parties beginning after he moved in, but does not clearly say when the loud gaming itself started. The request is also somewhat limited; asking the agency to meet him and recall the policy would be clearer if you specified the action you expect if the noise continues. Some details about his personality and age do not strengthen the complaint. Develop the timeline and desired outcome more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a recognisable progression from introducing yourself and the neighbour, to explaining the disturbance, and then making a request. Paragraph breaks help separate these stages, and linking expressions such as “Additionally” and “Therefore” guide the reader. At times, however, the sequence is less direct than it could be: the opening spends considerable space describing the neighbour before clearly stating the complaint, and “I would like to explain…” is followed by a repeated promise to elaborate. Some references, such as “his side,” are vague, while repeated uses of “I would like” make the linking feel mechanical. State the complaint early, then organise the timeline, effects, and requested action in distinct, concise paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of vocabulary relevant to a formal complaint, including “accommodation policy,” “neighbourhood ethics,” “deafening,” and “effective actions.” The reader can generally understand the central problem, but frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choices reduce precision: for example, “agitation” does not clearly express that residents are disturbed, and “fast trackes” is not a natural description of loud music. Some phrases are also awkward or overly elaborate, such as “what problem I have been juggling from his side.” Choose direct, conventional expressions for the complaint and check spelling carefully. More accurate collocations would make your vocabulary sound more natural and help the agency understand the issue without effort.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including explanations of the noise’s effects, and the overall message remains understandable. However, errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns and in the longer structures, which sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “I finds,” “he never understand,” and “many people… get ageitation,” where subject–verb agreement is not controlled. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction, as in “I am High blood pressure patient” and “I would like to explain that what problem…”. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, particularly with “i” and sentence openings such as “when he came…”. Practise accurate present and past forms, agreement, and clear clause structure before adding more complex sentences.
