Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear sir,
I am writting this to share with you about disturbance from neighbour, who rent their flat from same accommodation agency, they plays very lound video games late at night.
Few days ago, I had my exam and I was studied for the late night and they play games with other people and shouting that was disturbed me alot because I can not constrate on my studies. Moreover, those guys are not locked their doors while playing, so they talk very loudly.
Futhermore, I am requesting to agency that please take any action on that like ask them about this issue so that neighbours will focus on their own work, instead of distracting from their work. If they understand I will be very thankful to agency team.
Thank you for understang and I hope you can understand my situation regarding this problem , look forward of this.
Yours Sincerly,
Supanbir kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you identify the neighbour’s late-night gaming, explain that it disrupts your studying, and ask the agency to speak to them. The effect on you is relevant and understandable, especially when you say you “can not constrate on my studies.” However, the timing is not fully clear: “Few days ago, I had my exam” describes a recent impact, but does not clearly say when the noise problem itself began or whether it has continued. Your requested action is also somewhat general (“take any action”); specify a practical step, such as contacting the neighbour and reminding them of quiet hours. Developing these details would make the response more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure, moving from the complaint to its effect and then to a request, and expressions such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” help signal added points. The main ideas are generally understandable. However, the progression is sometimes weakened by unclear links: “Few days ago, I had my exam” does not clearly connect the start of the noise problem to the exam, and the final sentence combines thanks, hope, and a closing thought without a clear relationship. Paragraphing could also better separate the background, impact, and requested action. Use more direct transitions and clear references to the noise and the neighbour so the reader can follow the sequence effortlessly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “disturbance,” “late at night,” “shouting,” and “distracting,” so the reader can identify the complaint. However, the range is limited and several spelling or word-choice errors make the letter less polished, such as “lound,” “alot,” “constr ate” (intended as “concentrate”), and “understang.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “share with you about disturbance” and “focus on their own work.” Choose more precise complaint language and check spelling carefully. For example, “I am writing to report repeated noise” is more natural than “share with you about disturbance,” while “keep the noise down” fits the request better.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the overall meaning can usually be understood. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “they plays” should be “they play,” while “I was studied” should be “I was studying” or “I studied.” The sentence beginning “Few days ago” also needs an article (“A few days ago”), and “those guys are not locked their doors” has an incorrect verb pattern. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although they do not prevent understanding of the main complaint. Practise accurate past-tense narration and simple clause patterns before adding more complex sentences.
