Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir,
Hope you are doing well. I wanted to show my concern that a month ago you rented a flat to a new person who is my neighbour is playing very loud music almost every night from past two weeks which is very disturbing.
As i'm a student of final year it is very hard to do concentrate on my studies. I do studies at night because i do job as well for my expenses. He plays music around 9pm to 12am. Last week i went to him and said politely to low the music volume so that i can do my studies. On that time he agreed and turn the volume down . However, he again plays music loudly.
Now i want you to request him or take some actions so that everyone can enjoy their personal time.
Moreover, You can built soundproof walls for him to enjoy his quality time. i hope you will tackle this problem as soon as possible.
Your sincerily,
Navleen Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you say the noise began around two weeks ago, explain that it disrupts your late-night studying, and ask the agency to intervene. The details about working during the day and the neighbour briefly lowering the volume after you spoke to him make the complaint relevant and credible. However, the opening says the agency rented the flat “a month ago,” which does not clearly explain when the noise itself began, and the timeline could be stated more precisely. Your requested action is also somewhat unclear: “request him or take some actions” gives alternatives without specifying a preferred response, while building soundproof walls may be impractical. State clearly that you want the agency to contact the neighbour and ensure quiet hours are respected.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a generally sensible order: you introduce the complaint, describe its effect and your attempt to resolve it, then make a request. Time references such as “Last week” and “However” help show how the situation developed. The paragraph breaks also separate the main stages of the letter. Some connections are less clear, though: the opening combines the date the neighbour moved in with the date the noise began, and “Now” followed by “Moreover” makes the requests feel loosely connected. The final paragraph would be more effective if it presented one clear action and a reason for it. Use linking phrases selectively and make the timeline and requested outcome easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the complaint and its impact, including “very disturbing,” “personal time,” and “quality time.” The wording is generally understandable, but several choices are unnatural or imprecise for a formal letter. For example, “show my concern” is less idiomatic than “raise my concern,” and “low the music volume” does not express the intended action naturally. “Do concentrate” and “do my studies” also make the message less fluent, while “tackle this problem” is rather general. Aim for precise complaint language and natural collocations, such as “reduce the volume,” “concentrate on my studies,” and “resolve the noise issue.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the reader can understand the main message. However, some errors in verb forms, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation reduce accuracy. In “my neighbour is playing … from past two weeks,” the tense and time expression do not fit together; “has been playing … for the past two weeks” would be clearer. “It is very hard to do concentrate” has an unnecessary verb, and “he agreed and turn the volume down” needs consistent past-tense forms. Capitalisation is also inconsistent in “i’m” and “Moreover, You.” Practise checking tense consistency and sentence patterns, especially after verbs such as “agree,” and proofread punctuation and capital letters.
