Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three required points: it says the noise began “approximately last month,” explains that it disrupts your routine and makes you late for work, and asks the agency to contact the neighbour and take action. The complaint and requested outcome are clear throughout, and the details are relevant to the situation. To make the response more fully developed, specify how often the gaming continues or give a clearer example of its effect, such as difficulty sleeping. Also, the task asks you to begin “Dear Sir or Madam”; using “Dear Sir” does not follow that instruction exactly. Overall, the purpose is clear and each part of the task is covered.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter follows a sensible progression: you introduce the complaint, explain when it began, describe its effects, and then state what you want the agency to do. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “I hope” guide the reader. Some connections are less smooth, however. “As, I thought it only occasional issue” is an awkward transition, while the effects and requests are packed into long sentences with little punctuation. Separate these ideas into shorter sentences and use clearer links—for example, “At first, I thought it was occasional. However, it has become a regular problem.” This would make the progression easier to follow while preserving the clear overall organisation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for a formal complaint, including “excessive noise,” “high volume,” “building regulations,” and “resolve.” These choices make the situation and your request understandable. However, several word-choice, spelling, and collocation problems reduce precision: “peaceful living” is unnatural in this context, “rountine” is misspelled, and “actionto” is incorrectly joined. Phrases such as “my routine is getting disturb” and “this situation give me more stress” also do not express the intended meaning naturally. Aim for accurate, conventional combinations such as “disrupt my routine,” “cause me stress,” and “take action.” A more consistent formal register would further strengthen the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “noise coming from my neighbour’s flat” and a conditional request beginning “I would appreciate if.” However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors occur across much of the letter. Examples include “due which it is,” “As, I thought,” “I am not able wake,” and “I would also request you to take some actionto ensure the everyone should follow rules.” These involve clause formation, missing grammatical words, and sentence boundaries. Verb forms and agreement also need attention, as in “my routine is getting disturb” and “this situation give.” Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then check verb forms, articles, and punctuation before adding clauses.
