Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the central issue—your neighbour’s son plays video games and speaks loudly late at night—and you mention effects on your sleep and work, as well as asking the agency to intervene. However, the task is addressed only partially: “The problem start” does not explain when it began, and the requested action, “change their flat or ask to control the sound,” is vague and not fully explained. The letter also ends with the incomplete phrase “I beleive and appreciate,” so its purpose and closing are unfinished. The response is 64 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop the complaint and make a clear, complete request. Add a specific timeframe, fuller details of the impact, and a polite, precise action request.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The ideas follow a basic, understandable sequence: you introduce the complaint, describe the noise, explain its effects, and request action. Connectors such as “As a result” and “Also” help show how the noise affects you. However, the response is not organised into clear letter paragraphs, and the abrupt final phrase, “I beleive and appreciate,” interrupts the progression and leaves the message incomplete. The link between the opening and the explanation of when the problem began is also unclear. To improve, use a conventional structure—opening purpose, background and effects, request, and closing—and make each transition connect the ideas precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the main complaint, including “harsh noise,” “late at night,” “mental health,” and “work obligation.” These choices show some attempt to describe the seriousness and consequences of the problem. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “sleeping system,” “maintain my work obligation,” and “control the sound of video game.” Spelling errors in “recenly,” “badlly,” and “beleive” also reduce accuracy. Choose more natural phrases for a formal complaint, such as “sleeping pattern,” “meet my work responsibilities,” and “keep the volume down,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response mainly uses short, simple statements, with a limited attempt to show cause and effect in “As a result, my mental health and sleeping system are effected.” Several grammatical errors make parts of the message awkward or unclear. For example, “I am writing to complaining” uses the wrong verb form, “The problem start” has incorrect tense, and “I could not able to” combines two incompatible verb patterns. The sentence beginning “Because” is also a fragment, while “their son plays a video game and talking” lacks parallel structure. Practise complete sentences, consistent verb forms, and parallel constructions; for example, “Their son plays video games and talks loudly late at night.”
