Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the general issue—late-night video-game noise—and explain that it affects your sleep and concentration. However, the task’s key details are only minimally addressed: “When i come into the flate” does not clearly say when the problem began, and the effects become broad claims about neighbours, workers, and the environment rather than focusing on your own experience. Your request that the agency “make more flates” and separate them is not a practical response to the specific complaint. State when the noise started, give a concrete example of its impact on you, and ask the agency to contact the neighbour or enforce quiet hours. A clear, relevant request would make the letter more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the problem, describes effects, and then makes a request. This gives the reader some sense of the letter’s purpose. However, the ideas within each section are difficult to follow, and there is little clear progression between them. For example, the effects move from your sleep to other families, professionals, and the environment without explaining how these points connect. The long opening paragraph also combines several ideas, while the final request is not clearly linked to the complaint. Use separate paragraphs for the start of the problem, its effects, and the action requested, and connect each point with simple, accurate transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “video game,” “noise,” “sleep peacefully,” and “disturbance,” so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “noise affects” repeated several times. Frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choices—such as “probem,” “flate,” “silent environment,” and “social worker”—make parts of the message harder to understand or less suitable for a formal complaint. Choose precise phrases for the situation, such as “loud gaming late at night,” “disrupts my sleep,” and “quiet hours.” Proofreading spelling and using a few formal expressions, such as “I am writing to report,” would improve clarity and appropriacy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Your writing communicates some basic points through simple sentences, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes obscure the intended meaning. Examples include “When i come into the flate my neighbor start,” where the time clause and verb form are unclear, and “Noise can affects,” which has an incorrect verb pattern. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also often missing, as in the opening, making several ideas run together. There is little accurate use of more varied sentence structures. Practise forming clear past-tense sentences to explain when the issue began, and use simple present forms for its ongoing effects: for example, “The noise wakes me, so I cannot sleep properly.” Check subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
