Student answer (Band 6.0)

hello team,

Hope you guys are doing well, I am wrttting this letter to inform you that my family, and I facing problem every night due loud voice of video games from neighbour's house on routine basis.

When, I came back to house from daily hectic schedule, the kids and their parents too, they are always watching TV and playing video games in loud pace. Also, they make a noise after each innings, start dancing and singing. This problem makes me more uncomfortable from last month, they usually open their windows and leave it for whole night due to summer season.

This problem effects me in several ways such mentally, physically, and emotionally. I could not sleep well, when i have to get up early in the morning for work, I won't be able to sleep early due to noise of electronic game from adjacent's house. Although, I feel more irritated, stressed, depressed, and tired on work, I can not perform well, it creates a barrier in between my promotion due to unsatisfactory performance.

Here, I personally request you that please give a short notice to them so that can fix it their window or can play whatever they want at their house without disturbing others. I would prefer a common play station like a Gym in a apartment so that they can go there and play for how long they want.

I hope you will understand my problem and I look forwrd to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely

Manpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you identify the problem as occurring “from last month,” explain that it disrupts your sleep and work, and ask the agency to contact the neighbours. The effects on your wellbeing and performance give the complaint relevant detail. However, some points are less fully developed or are unclear. For example, the opening says the noise happens “every night,” but the timeline could be stated more directly, and the request for a shared “play station” is not clearly connected to what the agency can realistically arrange. Keep the focus on the agency’s practical actions, such as reminding the tenants of quiet hours and asking them to close their windows.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the complaint, describes the noise and its effects, then makes requests and closes politely. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and links such as “Also,” “Although,” and “Here” signal relationships between ideas. Some connections are less clear or feel mechanical, however. The sentence beginning “When, I came back…” does not clearly explain the timing of the neighbours’ noise, and “Although” introduces a point that is not contrasted with the preceding idea. The opening also combines several ideas in one long sentence. Use clearer transitions and make each paragraph’s main point explicit to strengthen the progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of vocabulary to describe the impact of the noise, including “irritated,” “stressed,” and “unsatisfactory performance,” and the reader can understand the central complaint. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “loud pace” would be better expressed as “at a high volume,” while “effects me” should be “affects me.” “Electronic game” and “common play station like a Gym” are also unclear in this context. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “wrttting” and “look forwrd.” Aim for precise, conventional phrases for a formal complaint, and proofread spelling and word forms before sending the letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, for example, “I could not sleep well, when I have to get up early in the morning for work,” and you communicate the main message despite some grammatical errors. Sentence boundaries and clause structure need more control: “Hope you guys are doing well, I am…” joins two independent clauses with a comma, while “When, I came back…” has an unnecessary comma and an incomplete construction. There are also errors in verb forms and sentence patterns, such as “my family, and I facing problem” and “so that can fix it their window.” Use complete clauses with a clear subject and verb, and check tense consistency and punctuation, especially in longer sentences.
